I am 42, been in the industry for the past 19 years. Right now, I am in job hunting as well. It does get depressing at times, I tried not to dwell on the misses, and keep on looking forward to the next interview.

If you can afford the money, do get the necessary certifications; PMP, Certified AWS Architect, etc. Else spend time to revise on the interview questions, there's a lot of resources on GitHub.

In between waiting for the next interview, I am trying to get back into shape, pick up a new hobby or skills, etc. Just to keep my mind back to those negative thoughts.

It does take a bit of work to fine tune each campaign & ads.

- test your images. drop those with ctr less than .06%

- test your age groups. look at your customers and decide the groupings.

- use precise interest. think your competitors, brand names, etc.

With $40 per day, if you split test properly, you should be able to find the audience at CPM $0.20, other than PPV, there's not a lot traffic sources than can give you such precise targeting.

Hardware are getting cheaper & faster. The same is with Storage. Virtualization Tools & OS are mostly free. Worst if I compare the US VPS prices against those in Europe. E.g HostEurope or Leaseweb.

Pick any of the free platform WP, posterous, tumblr, etc. Most of these tools are inter-portable. It really does not matter, the one thing that really matter is the blogging platform that you actually use.

Consider the alternatives; try to go direct to the brand names. If you take a look at the music videos by Black Eye Peas or Lady Gaga, that's a few seconds on various products; watch, etc.

In whatever apps you are building, consider who uses it and what is most inline to advertise, do direct to them. The return is definitely more than what affiliate links will bring you.

I agree... it is the drive and will to get things done.

I am 34 yrs old, I definitely have more to lose when I compare myself to a fresh graduate who have less commitments than me, I have to make things work. So if my co-founder is just as driven as me to succeed. WHY NOT? :)
