These posts are a blueprint for a successful business that read like a gripping novel -- really enjoyed it!

Bookmarked and will refer back to this as I develop http://www.blog2video.com as I eventually want to get to the point of scaling and ultimately selling the business.

Quick question: what form of free trial structure ended up working best for you? I like the risk-free offer and am trying to craft one of my own.

The numbers can be even greater if you allow friends of friends to view your posts.

I for one read this on HN and then saw it on one of my friend's Facebook immediately after (you and I have 27 mutual friends apparently).

Farewell Kera 13 years ago

I had the privilege of spending some time with Max and John, two of Kera.io's cofounders during SXSW this year. They are two of the most personable and generous founders I have ever met (must be the whole Canada thing!). These guys have both the technical chops and the hustle to be huge, and I am positive that this is merely a bump in the road for them. They are going to be unstoppable with one of their next ventures, fate just didn't have Kera.io in its cards.

Best of luck to the both of you, you guys are gonna kill it.

I volunteered for SXSW last year and got a badge. A great experience, but I felt like I wasn't fully capitalizing on the event.

This year, I had Name Your Price popsicles, wore a decorated box, and stood on top of a cooler shouting for 7 hours a day. It was monumentally beneficial for networking and self-promotion. Everyday, I was shut down by the police for not having a permit, but I had an awesome experience nonetheless.

Ubuntu on tablets 13 years ago

The seamless phone => tablet => desktop transition make the Ubuntu family a winner. Now to see if it picks up any enterprise traction...

I feel like there is an answer for this, but why are two companies in the "YC family" at odds so publicly? If RapGenius is "starting beef" like is done in the music industry, I find it odd that it would happen with someone on their own "label".

Perhaps this is ignorance on my behalf of how companies who have already been sold (Heroku) fit into the picture, but some explanation would be appreciated.

Noted, thanks for your input.

Your English is not bad at all, you conveyed your thoughts in a manner that most importantly is unambiguous. I know exactly what you're saying and that's what is most important.

This is really insightful and helps me better understand who my target audience would be.

Is there an email address I could contact you at? I would love to bounce ideas off of you at some point.

Thanks for taking the time to give your input. You seem to understand that public speaking is not just about giving a speech, and is necessary for everyone. How can that be conveyed to developers who believe all they need are technical skills and communication skills are arbitrary?

Thanks for the input, I really do appreciate it.

Perhaps "public speaking" is not the word I'm looking for, what about the ability to communicate effectively, not just to a group of people, but to your boss or to a coworker? Maybe not you specifically, but do you feel like other developers struggle with being heard? And is learning oratorical skills and technical skills mutually exclusive?

I wonder if Watsi will apply the crowdfunding nonprofit model to other sectors besides medical treatments...such as perhaps sponsoring the education of specific children showing great promise, or to micro-loans in a Grameenesque fashion...
