People make art to also get recognized for that art. Otherwise they would keep that art secret at home.

Without copyright, anyone can copy the art and call it their own. What is then the incentive for the creator to share the art, if there is neither monetory gain and nor fame. And worse than them being recognized, they might even get accused of copying their own art if someone else became famous due to a copy.

Society would miss out a lot.

Because there are no consequences of Trump's actions, he would continue to commit offenses.

Neither Biden's administration, nor the judge presiding over Trump's crimes did what should have been done.

The checks and balances failed both when Trump was in power and when he was not in power.

Progress is a very human centric view. But if you consider earth as a whole system, we have over optimized the system for our benefit while the other parts of the system hugely suffered (other species, environment etc.).

We need to ensure our progress is balanced taking into account the whole system instead of just one part.

It could be just that almost all ancient civilizations were near water bodies that could flood. Any big flood would seem apocalyptic for the population size of the time.

That shared infrastructure monopolized by a central government authority is exactly what the US would need to have fast internet everywhere.

In case of India, the government lines had higher costs and lower service standards than the private Jio. So it is not always the case that government infrastructure is better. However, there are regulations that require rural infrastructure development which ensures coverage on low profitability regions.

This is a strange article. I did not find anything that is a blocker for China. China is a relative new comer to jet engines and this technology is tightly guarded by incumbents and needs time to mature.

If China can master nuclear, space, chips, it seems a bit stretch to say they it is the Jer engines where they fail.

I used to look forward to MacOS upgrades. Nowadays I dread it. Spotlight used to be great for quick look up of files, now it is pretty much useless for me. I am back to using finder and manually looking up files.

I hope things would improve and not degrade further. The updated icons is going in the right direction. More clarity and less useless effects.

Still the result could be that the software performance much better on their hardware than others. Priorities, competition, etc.

I think the UI look and feel was very ugly for many users and that caused its demise. The cross platform skin was ugly. The native skins were in the uncanny valley.

The framework was reasonably good for its time. By the time good looking UI frameworks came, the bad reputation was already set.

Why do we have to insist that messages must be made with lots of effort even if it is hard to understand for the reader? As long as what needs to be communicated is done respectfully, I don't see a value for it to be done manually, especially if the handwritten one is hard to read and thus wasting readers' time.

We don't hold the same standards for spellings. Rather we expect messages to be spell checked before being sent.

are you not speaking out of jealousy here?

I am not envying your situation at all.

People who are getting hurt are people like you and me. Employers are seeing your comments. They are reading about others who do this. They are losing trust. When they pay you, they expect you to work for them diligently and not just up to a level of KPI. This behavior will make them to force people to come to work. Remote working will be gone. They will start paying less because they expect people to two time anyway. Overall society loses due to loss of trust.

So you gain something, but society as a whole loses.

P.S. Even if my wife is very happy with me, it doesn't mean that I can have another relationship. Either I have an agreed open marriage or I am cheating. A different thing, but I would say similar.

No they don't know and if they did I would get fired obviously.

This already shows the problem. They assume they are paying for your time exclusively, while you are doing just enough to satisfy them.

The fact you go such lengths to hide the fact that you are three timing them also shows that you know what you are doing is not acceptable.

Most likely you are in breach of the employment contract.

You are also somehow justifying this to yourself. The problem is that such behavior causes loss of trust and makes other 95% of honest peoples' life painful.

It's not only reaction against child marriages. Thr prevailing culture is to marry off girls as early as possible, affecting their higher education. It also causes lower workforce participation among women as at the point of marriage they typically neither have higher education nor they are employed. Then immediately after marriage there is demand for bearing child, after which they no longer have time to look for employment.

Early marriage basically kills job opportunities and subsequently female workforce participation is lower.

I think we are missing another angle of getting the data. Information is also power. Power to influence people (e.g. Cambridge Analytica). So paying will not stop the data collection. Actually I doubt anything will, unless people really push the regulators to do their job.
