If I can see your GA tracking code on a website, and I then go and check WHOIS and see who owns the site with that GA tracking code, there's a chance that if I see that GA tracking code somewhere else I could figure out that it's you. But I guess I'd really have to be looking, almost stalking you!

Why don't you just find something that people will pay for, and charge for it? If nobody will pay for whatever you're offering, maybe that's a sign.

Hi. Sounds like you want to consider being a project manager, or maybe running your own startup. I used to be a coder, then took an MBA (but you don't need to be that drastic!), and now I run my own start-up called ViewsHound. I get to conceive and run the products, and do a whole heap more besides, like marketing etc. Maybe you could consider joining an existing start-up that's still quite early stage but has a bit of funding.

Perhaps not quite a like-for-like case though, this one looks more like a detailed forensic "open the books" examination, rather than a chat over coffee. I'm sure there are some cases where ideas do get stolen and made successful (a bit of Googling quickly turns up Steve Blank's experience on this), but I think these examples are probably rare enough to make them noteworthy.

I moved from Windows to Mac about 3 years ago and I still miss an easy way to maximise a window to full screen. I prefer to see only one thing at a time, I find it much less distracting. Full screen mode, if done right, would be great for me. At least the choice of full screen or how it is now would be good.

I think product placement is a great way for celebrities to lose credibility fast!

Very amusing. As the author of that post, I originally didn't put in "Say something interesting" because I thought it was blindingly obvious. However, I've worked it into the post based on your suggestion, as "The Yawn Test", so thanks for that. There are now 13 steps rather than my initial 12.

Sorry you didn't find the post interesting. It wasn't supposed to be amazing new insights or anything, just a basic checklist. As CEO of Publisha I work with bloggers and publishers every day, and a large number of them don't actually know who they're writing for! This post was really an attempt at "Don't run before you can walk." But hey, if you're already running then good on you!
