In a professional context, I use it to help a client (chemicals company) optimize their deliveries to customers. They have > 100 production sites and thousands of customers, so LP is used to allocate customers to production sites based on the product-cost and availability at supply site and trucking costs. We have evaluated multiple solvers (Gurobi/ Llamasoft/ GAMS/ LocalSolver etc) for optimizing deliveries, as well as evaluating the cost impact of changes to the delivery network.

IMHO a HS student learning Calculus should first learn the subject with pen and paper for a while before programming. It is important to work through the problems and think about the fundamental concepts involved, rather than thinking about the syntax involved in coding their solutions. Practising with pen and paper helps to internalize the subject matter better.

I think Netflix has lost touch with their consumer base, with most changes such as removal of the rating system being universally criticized. I cancelled my subscription recently as I realized that while Netflix has a lot of shows, there is a dearth of quality content and the search function is not useful. With shows like Friends and Office leaving, there is not much to draw people who like leaving it on in the background. Also, the auto-playing of trailers at full volume is super-annoying.
