I tried this exercise just after finishing the article. Feels silly to say, but really a remarkable experience.
I recently left tech to go back to school, but the program that I got into is very different than what I had envisioned.
As I reflected on this recent negative event, my perception changed in those ten minutes, reframing the challenge as an opportunity.
Not true. I work at FAANG and my colleagues making 400k work in a “cubicle farm” and also cannot afford a nice house bc we are in an HCOL area.
I’m inclined to think the reason for that is that location is a major factor in people’s content preferences, not purely because stuff is cached in one area, that seems extreme.
No one’s forcing you to use them

My understanding is that “The Jungle” spurred a huge improvement in safety regulations. Why do you think the conditions are still bad?
Using your own stat, it is objectively probable (66% chance) that this was someone outside the US.

Not dissing on you by any means, it’s just crazy to me how different this is than London. My train station in Surrey is a good 1.3km walk from my home, but all of my neighbors do the exact same thing.

Feel free to google them (going on google scholar and typing in “pornography negative impacts” is a good start), or I can cite a laundry list of studies saying the same thing.
Especially in this next generation, an increasing number of people are not planning to work for 40 years. Personally, I’m on a path to retire by 36 (16 years of work). Many of my friends and colleagues are on the same path.
This is pretty cool, nice job!
Finishing an ironman competition. Training is really hard right now but hopefully it’ll be worth it.
Had to try to pick swimming back up for the first time in 10 years ;)

I don’t understand modern healthcares obsession with extending life.
Part of the allure of life is because it’s temporary, so each moment is more valuable.
In a life where everyone lives to 200, the value of each moment (of your family, of the choices you make) is less, because you’ll probably have another chance sometime in the future.
Personally, I don’t want to live a day past 80.
I’m surprised that there have not been more ethical concerns about this
I think people would work on taking down these satellites. Whether by shining coordinated lasers at them, homemade projectiles, or some other method.
WhatsApp is end to end encrypted, but it can still detect what you are typing and can use that info to target you. It just can’t detect anything once you click send.
I wonder what the motivation for this is? It’s not like anyone is listening to these chopped and shifted tracks right? Maybe bots are streaming these?
Is this supposed to be surprising?
