I don't think this is going to happen unless self driving cars become the default model and drive costs down so much that each trip is the equivalent of close to the fare price of a bus ticket.

A tank of gas costs me currently about $20-$25 (Prius) while a recent ride for roughly 13-15 minutes cost me about $20 which definitely doesn't outweigh the value of owning a car trip wise.

Additionally it ignores the overall convenience of owning a car for transporting things like grocery, etc...

As someone who does use Uber and Lyft on several occasions, it's at best a supplementary service for my needs and as I'd imagine, many others

I don't have any statistics to back this comment up but I think it's quite common these days for people to bookmark stuff to read later except few do and the list grows insanely larger by the day. This is base on what I've heard roughly from Marco Arment off handed once and I believe I've read the same or similar comment from one of the competitors to instapaper.

The issue then would be how much actually ever gets consumed and even if they do, how much "actual" learning takes place simply by following up on reading stuff. I'd argue most people bookmark stuff of interest, less so for real educational value which in of itself is subjective at this point

This idea seems extremely self serving to whomever the author of the post and the badges as I imagine only ends up making a site look extremely ugly. If you don't feel the site is ready for PH, indicate so on the site I guess but this whole needing to put a badge up and attribute credit... Talk about stupid. I mean what value does it really serve that a site owner can't do themselves that would require attribution for something like this.

You're right that everyone defines spam differently and that you can't give spam a singular objective definition across the board nor was that my intention with what I wrote above. What I did try to say was that every community has a policy of what they define as spam and it's not uncommon for most to share the common view (at least communities I've been apart of) that self promotion is and can be viewed as spam.

Using Twitter as a counter example doesn't fit here because as a company they don't share that view but apparently the subreddit you reference in your original post does

There was at least one statement I disagreed with. It's a fallacy to argue that just because there are no ads and the posts are meant to be informative means it's not spam. Just because there is no direct monetization attached to something does not mean there aren't other reasons why people try to draw attention to their own posts/products/services/whatever. And most would probably argue there is value in the thing they are pushing as well. At the end of the day, your reasoning for why you think something is or isn't spam doesn't change whether it is spam or not nor the notion that in most online communities, constant self promotion (in some cases none are allowed at all depending on the community) is in fact spam, regardless of whether you think it provides value or not.

As a side note, the frequency of offenses does not dissolve whether spam is spam. You can say it doesn't do harm as a whole but that shifts the argument away from the fact that spam is an ongoing effort most people try to avoid from happening at all.

Most people here, if not everyone, is probably unqualified to answer this question. Any answers given are likely to be speculation and best guesses. Take any answer you get with a grain of salt.

Focusing on making it medical related won't increase your chances by much if at all, only to narrow your opportunities. If you can code, it shouldn't matter. Speaking from experience and from people I know personally, your lack of a degree isn't the main deterrent from getting a job programming in most cases

Not all companies issue emails to their employees. Users who are adding old positions may not have access. There are all sorts of headaches the other way around too. You have access to your domain and email because you just created the page but that doesn't mean everyone else will. It's a trade off both ways and there needs to be a better solution than what you're suggesting.

I recommend learning how to utilize what you already know first before moving on. Try building some basic stuff using plain JS

I want to say possibly but the honest truth is Nordstrom has (or had) a personal shopper option and I never used them when shopping there so I can't imagine doing so anywhere else either.
