It would be cool if your examples (or really your entire website) was a git repo so people could easily report issues. Examples:

1. Your GO examples don't quite follow Go standard style "resp_body" instead of just "body", "resp", or "respBody"

2. Instead of "Error Codes" it should probably be "Status Codes" since the first "Error Code" is actually "200 OK"

As per this document: https://developers.google.com/cast/docs/android_sender You need Google Play Services (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Google_Play_Services#Concerns) to write an Android app with the Cast API.

Because of this, Amazon cannot distribute Google Play Services on their own Android devices and therefor cannot use their own Android devices to cast to a Chromecast. They could enable Prime Video on other Android devices but not their own. They feel this will cause confusion and therefor have decided not to write a Prime Video app for Chromecast. Saying "oh, Amazon just doesn't want to write a Prime Video app for Chromecast", while true, doesn't truly explain the complexities of the situation.

The business decision to remove Chromecasts from the network steps from the above desire to prevent confusion. I personally don't agree with it but I understand it.

Patreon is an interesting idea for projects like this. The issue I have is that Patreon is currently viewed as something where you pay $x/mo and get regular substantial updates (comics, art, etc). I'm not sure OP could deliver enough monthly value to justify a Patreon subscription.

That true. I think the value such an API / service would provide to florists is that the service / API would:

1. Handle online ordering so they wouldn't have to 2. Drive customers to them

And do so in a way where they could still have a "personal relationship" with the flower purchasers.

The single downside, that I can see, is the whole "reviews" issue (I have no desire to become like Yelp and be known for "shaking down" businesses). I'll have to think about that.

I'll take your advise and talk to a couple florists. I don't think they, the florists, would need to handle the subscriptions. As long as they allowed repeat orders and they handled them independently they wouldn't even need to know it was a subscription. The main thing to discuss would be some kind of discount if the service could guarantee some level of purchasing from the subscriptions.

I figured they did (they have to I imagine) but I really wish they would make that more obvious what florist they use. I want a service that adds value (like calling, order placement, but also additional services) but does so in a way that makes it feel like I'm simply ordering flowers from a particular local florist w/o having to call them.

Ideally the prices would essentially be the same (since you are driving business to the florist) but the service should be able to add enough value (by saving time, offering subscriptions, etc) to be able to display the florist info but still attract orders via the site/service.

What about a double sided version where the inside contains something of value? Perhaps a called out spot for a flash drive containing the book, or a QR code to the book/amazon page/etc, or perhaps a little "guest log" so people could open it up and rate the book? Would be an interesting experiment/art thing

In fact, if you did what the others down below suggested (the Amazon Kindle scraper) then the inside could automatically contain when you purchased the book which would be kind of cool

Have you considering demoing the user with a couple of "sample" egistration tags? Like a "Try #4048858 or #832939 in the box below." They wya the user can see A. what the tag numbers look like and B. what entering a tag looks like. Also, I'm willing to bet that almost everyone who logs into your service w/ facebook doesn't want to log in any other way. For FB users you could skip the password and email and simple use FB for signin and send them messages when a tag is entered.

Just noticed something, when you click "Your Groups" and then enter your phone # it tells you to enter a pin. If you click off of that box while waiting for your pin the damn pin box goes away. Kinda annoying because now you have to do everything again

You are right, it is little more than a todo list(In fact it's a little less in some cases) I think the reason I like the idea is because it does a few things I think people will find interesting: it displays a chore (task) for you to do right then, it chooses for you (you do have the option to skip) and it kinda of "hides" all the chores you have to do. Instead of being overwhelmed with a lot of tasks it gives you one to complete, only one.

Also, unlike a todo list, a "chore" only requires 3 inputs: 1, Name; 2, Description; 3, re-occuring{yes/no}. Sometimes users feel overwhelmed by the amount of options they have when using task managers. ChoreRoulette would do away with this feeling by offering a simple clean 3-input interface.

Any other suggestions/comments

P.S. Yes I know convincing users to input data is always an uphill battle. I'm hoping my simple quick way of inputting a chore will solve that.

Services like Quicken / Mint are capable to getting bank information using a known protocol. Is there no way to kind of do the opposite (Ie, use a known protocol to send money / update bank information)?

Thanks for the reply. I am still looking for that one site if anybody knowns it. If it helps, one HN user was saying that the site-owner (another HN user) was running his service like a metered utility and should instead charge an baseline fee + sqr inch fee since it would make him more money.
