This has been a story, age as old as time. How many times have startup founders been told "you're a feature" or "Google/Meta/etc can copy you so fast". Operators just need to stay vigilant of their value add, or they never really had a moat in the first place and were living on borrowed time anyway.

It sounds like your concept of “minor” may be calibrated too high. Kids need to test boundaries to learn limits. They need to learn limits to live safely while understanding their actual capabilities. This involves getting hurt sometimes. Is it fun? No. Do you learn a lesson almost every time? Yes. This is the compounding that actually matters.

Moreso they are interested in the phone because we are but I don't necessary sense frustration. Especially if you are "attentive" in that you are willing to context switch back to your kids immediately, I think they see it as another "thing" like a toy or some distraction outside.

Using the Claude "superpowers" skill will downgrade models automatically, using Sonnet and Haiku for trivial things.

Hahaha seeing this play out in real time is absolutely incredible.

I just recently had Claude leverage a community ran Monarch MCP which has essentially all of my transactions/wealth information. Had it create a bunch of forecasting tools and routines to update me of budget progress, time horizons on certain goals, hypotheticals and their impact on the budget. It’s been awesome. It’s also been very knowledgeable on the US tax code and my specific situation (kids, house, etc). Had it consume my W2s, options grants, etc.

I have it all backed up in Git, so as things evolve, there’s a paper trail and context.

All of this is to say, what does Nino provide beyond someone setting up something similar to what I did?

Companies don't care about your skillz, they care about velocity and costs. If AI helps increase velocity and decrease cost by lowering total headcount, then its a massive win. That factors in AI "unpredictability".

Design has been very hit or miss for me. I've had more success with Claude Code and the frontend-design skill.

Yes, that's what the comment means.

We are back to the baseline. The availability of our tools isn't adding anything in the long term because the productivity increase we get from the tooling is negated by the time we're back to doing it the old fashioned way due to downtime, so there is no claimed productivity increase espoused by the pontificators of the tooling.

You're fighting a battle you can't win. Doesn't care what you think about those using LLMs, they will outproduce you and in corporate environments, shipping things is paramount. If I can ship 5 more things simultaneously with AI, I'm going to beat you even if you think you're creating "better" software.

I still put my pants on the same way, eat the same food, talk to my friends and family the same way. I drive to the grocery store, pick out the same food and cook food at the same home. Talk to my kids, take them to activities and watch Bluey.

The only time my reality has changed is when I spend time at a computer or on my phone and even then, its a fraction of the total time. So no, it's not a "totally different reality" for me.

Because we're paying attention? A lot of "smart" people are lost in the AI sauce, grandstanding that they are going to change the very fabric of society. Generally leading experts in other fields are not making the same hyperbolic, self-indulgent, embarrassing statements.
