Nope, but they sure fall in line and keep the negotiated peace because let’s face it, all of them combined will crumble before a single Israeli battalion. You assume all homeowners are happy with the situation. That is definitely not the case. Many looking to upsize or thinking about housing for their kids are not pleased with the rising prices. And this crowd is growing too.

That ratio is declining by the day as more and more join the renting class. Olivia Chow’s victory in Toronto is testament to that. She ran on increasing the vacancy tax, making evictions more difficult, building 25k rental homes, etc. No wonder why the old guard like Ford and Tory tried everything to steer people away from her. But she still won. Speaks volumes of the changes in the demographics. It’s no longer 70% that are happy with the housing crisis I can tell you this much.

Billboards have run before (“Can’t afford a home? Have you tried having rich parents?”, etc). A protest was organized but very few showed up. None of this work when the ruling class is benefiting from the lack of housing.

You need something more attention grabbing. Something Titan-like that the media will run with for days. Something like what started the Arab spring or similar movements. Not advocating for self-immolation, but it has to be dramatic enough to wake people up.

Absolutely. I know a few people planning an internal transfer within their companies to move to the US from Canada. The high cost of housing, the terrible winters and the inadequate healthcare have become unbearable.

Relative to the cost of living, the pay is peanuts. You live in the GTA paying SF like rent, but paid 1/5 of the salary.

Happens all the time in my marriage and still going strong. Sometimes you just accept the way the other person is, doesn’t mean you don’t point it out to them in moments of anger. But not necessarily a relationship-ending signal.

I’m in the unenviable position having to study a build system in Make for a very large codebase. Are there existing tools that generate the dependency graph or aid in understanding such a build system?

My bank (in Canada) has limits on how much I can withdraw per day, per week, per month. Furthermore, there could be a delay of up to 5 business days before I can get the money to its destination. And that’s for money in the thousands only. How is that money in the billions can be withdrawn so quickly esp. since these were high value accounts each in the millions/billions? Couldn’t they just use one of their terms or conditions to delay the withdrawals and give themselves ample time to react?

If you are a self-reliant individual with few needs, it can be destructive for you to associate indiscriminately with others as you are likely to end up in lopsided relationships where you are exploited and relied on more than you rely on others. You need to be very careful in selecting your friends to create balanced relationships, a task which requires a non-trivial amount of energy which can sometimes be put to better use in other pursuits.
