It wasn't written by a human so they see no human value in it.

Which is true, in a way, the data put down as documentation can now be calculated in seconds, and documentation is just a cache.

I don't do any moral judgement at all, and I also don't predict the future.

I respond to "You are not causing more water to be used by asking a human to work on something.", because that statement is false. (Mental) work has an effect on the human metabolism.

You are not causing more water to be used by asking a human to work on something.

That's certainly not true. Asking me to think hard about something will cause me to burn more calories. Asking me to do physical work even more so.

100%. I don't want to know how the sausage was made. It's similar to research papers, or history books, where the way we arrive at results or outcomes in the real world is often quite different from the way it's presented in the final form.

The Missing Layer 6 months ago

Maybe I'm missing something, or we do it differently here, but I think "spec" is defined to narrowly in that article. Start writing the first part of that document in that meeting, and everything ties together neatly.

Destructive operations are both tempting to some devs and immensely problematic in that industry for regulatory purposes, so picking a tech that is inherently incapable of destructive operations is alluring, I suppose.

On a meta level, seems this trajectory follows Alan Kay: first we made the complex things possible, now we make simple things simple.

Stockholm (SL Bus/Train via Märsta 47kr vs. Arlanda Express 340 SEK)

Vienna (S-Bahn S7 4.40 EUR vs. City Airport Train 24.90 EUR)

While with the Stockholm one, the public transport option is cheap but a little bit more complicated (there are convenient medium priced options too), the Vienna one is really just branding and a non-obvious exit to the train station.

From the top of my head I know three cities which have peculiarities when it comes to public transportation to the Airport. In two cases, it's obvious they do this to push the private train to foreigners, at 5x the ticket rate.
