I'm currently pursuing my CS degree after a couple of decades working as a programmer. The big difference is that you will miss "why" and learn mostly "how", unless you have a very inquisitive mind. On the other hand, not everybody can afford years of no income or crippling debt.

I tried to open a new account on Twitter app for Android, using only my email. It was going ok until it asked me to provide my phone after confirming my email. The reason: suspicious activity / spam behavior. The account is in limbo now, and I can't access it any more.

Time to spin up a Mastodon instance.

I received the first call after I had a hardware issue with my laptop serviced on site. The service guy was just a random contractor, so when the call happened my immediate thought was "ah, somebody like that dude just vacuumed up all the customer data." Because, you know, big companies are really great at building secure internal software when chasing the cheapest dollar. </s>
