Another point of evidence of why HN is great. Even reading this point in this argument had me thinking and wondering why it was banned and then the moderator comment right below (but can't be replied to?) explains the reasoning.
One of the best uses of HN for me is watching my brain jump to conclusions only to have them slapped down by a well thought out counter argument.
This forum isn't perfect but I haven't found a better public discussion board on the internet. Hat tip to the moderators and others making this happen. Your work is appreciated.
The red color filter for outside when trying to preserve night vision is a great tip. Some apps have this built-in but much better to have the OS change it everywhere.
Recommend creating a Shortcut to toggle this setting.

Was not aware of the 4th book. Looking forward to that. Thank you. The first three books were great and opened my eyes to the sheer breadth of what other intelligent life could be like.
In 2010 I wrote an AED Simulator for iPhone because we didn’t have enough in our volunteer fire department to do CPR training. It sold about $100 that year and continues to do so even today. This year I finally decided to give it an update but it very much looks and behaves the same.
Your review is almost spot on for me. I’m agreeing with it all along with the exception that I really like his writing and, well, I would say “enjoy” his novels, I do respect and value the time spent reading them.
Canada is still working on Open Banking. I think it will definitely force institutions to step up their game once it is implemented.

That is a great question!
Thanks for taking it for the team. It sounds interesting but I'm skeptical if alternative grains will beat popcorn.
The speed at which computers run is beyond human intuition and beyond the speed for humans to respond. A killer robot will kill everybody in range practically instantly. It would be nothing like what movies show.
Author here. I wanted a lightweight macOS app sitting in my menu bar for when I need to grab some fake data for various reasons.
Happy for any feedback or to answer any questions.
You are far too good at crafting these passages.
It is ridiculous that something as basic as having a user replaceable battery is considered an unexpected nice feature.
Square is in the payment business. Credit cards are just one method. E.g., Square supports Interact in Canada for a flat fee of $0.10.
Ridiculous comparison but 4 Gflops on a 2017 12" MacBook.... Looking forward to an upgrade this year.
Unpoly https://unpoly.com is also worth a look if you are interested in these things. It combines Turbolinks and Stimulus functionality in a very usable way.
Or hide/collapse dotfiles like the ls command does.
"Cloth masks reduces virus from coughing by 96%"
vs
"Cloth masks tested on 4 people reduces virus from coughing by 70%"
If that is the only study being citied to go against public health officers I'm be skeptical. If cloth masks work it should be feasible to do a larger study and prove it with a high degree of confidence.

I wonder if that decision in 2006 and the experience that followed is what motivates this point of view.
People make mistakes and can learn from them.
I would love this in Spanish and French.
The addition of ze (gender-neutral pronoun) is even better than OK.
That's exactly what the plan looks like at http://www.carfree.com
Agree that health skepticism is warranted here but it might also be that they are trying to re-think the credit card experience to improve it for everybody.
After a visit to SE Asia I'm in agreement. The transformation that will take place in those cities from IC motorbikes to eBikes will be a huge quality of life improvement in terms of pollution and noise.
Not sure about North America. So many fast moving heavy vehicles and poorer weather don't make eBikes for the masses as appealing.
I used to do that as well. One day I came back to my jeep and the club was stolen but not the jeep. Wasn't sure what to make of that but laugh. Never bothered getting another one.
Agree, it definitely loads too fast to be a site 2018. \s
I'm about a third of the way building my K2. Really hard to justify the expense of the kit but is the mother of all kits to build and the end result will provide a lot of satisfaction. I've just started testing the first of the boards and was surprised when it just worked (i.e., turned on and no smoke was visible).
