1. Thanks for the input! I'll submit that as well :)

2. Luckily we run our largest publisher, which is how we seeded the market. Now we are doing the classic balancing act on both sides

3. Yep -- it helps :)

4. Yea, we do keyword-targeted ads: https://ethical-ad-client.readthedocs.io/en/latest/#page-spe... -- this allows publishers to target the ads based on content of the pages.

Thanks for the feedback/questions! Maybe I should also do a Show HN: to get more ideas.

New brand 7 years ago

Glad to see they kept the original essence and just seemingly updated it.

I think it's a lesson that the entire tech community is learning slowly (and marginalized people have been shouting about for years, to their credit).

They were one of the pioneers in the space of sustainability around open source, which led to many of the wonderful projects we have today. Thanks to Chad for putting so much work in over the years towards a worthwhile mission.

I have the same issue with Quora. Makes me sad every time I go there and find useful info, but feel pushed away. Dropbox also does similar -- in fact they broke all their old direct public links, so that you can use their new "sharing" dialog, so that they can spam the recipient to get a Dropbox account. Sigh.

Yea, I mention commonmark in the post, and referred to it in the "standard that was used" part -- commonmark is great, but wasn't widely adopted.

Updated my original post to be more clear.
