Oddly enough, I am an accountant. I'd say that it's rare for accountants in the US to lose their license but not unheard of.

My friends and I have no loyalty to our employers at this point. Big or small, we've all been burned. Some places are just less unpleasant than others. My bar is so low that as long as no one is screaming at me or threatening my coworkers I usually call that a good day. Getting out of retail helped.

Software "engineers" could use a lot of this professional and ethical responsibility too.

Personally, I need to review them. Anecdotally, the number of accountants that I've met that haven't progressed beyond middle school level math is depressing as well.

In parts of the US they still very much burn the plant stubble in the fall. It creates a large amount of smog that irritates the eyes and give off an acrid smell.

As it's been explained to me, we're in a demand shock with more or less normal supply constrained by logistics problems.

I bailed from T-Mobile to Mint, an MVNO running on the same network. Downside is that if there's network congestion you'll be deprioritized behind T-Mobile's direct customers, but it hasn't been an issue for me. Plans from the major carriers are insane, the price structure is always like $80 for the first line plus $10 per additional line, so unless you have four phones on your plan you're really getting screwed.

In comparison, Mint's plans are $15 to $30 per line if you prepay for a year at a time, and there's no extra activation fees. It's been working well for me.

If your phone has eSIM support you can probably install their app and run a free week trial alongside your current phone service if you want to test it out. For older phones they sell a $5 test kit with two SIMs, one for the trial and a second to activate a real account, and it includes a $5 discount to pay back the trial cost.<

Mint is nice in urban areas, but don't get it if you need roaming coverage or coverage in rural areas. You won't get it. SMS often breaks down as well when you're out of cell signal range. I've had a few important texts disappear due to that. Otherwise if you don't leave an urban area or deal with a disaster flooding cellular traffic, then Mint is a great, cheap, urban option.

CoreCivic and Geo both own and operate the majority of prisons in the US.

1. Kicked a lot, couldn't be swaddled, was super active and even liked the same music (we went to see a symphony before he was born and there was a particularly recognizable track, even now he likes that same track while crying or screaming when he hears other kinds of music). Even now at 3 months he's super active and hitting all the developmental milestones early (and kicks a lot lol).

Working in a family business is protected. Even working as a 13-16 year old in some jobs is allowed as long as it’s outside of school hours. We allow for a gradual introduction into working for children instead of a hard line at 18.

Fun fact, tax breaks encourage this as long as you report the income, then some of the parents' income can be offset by the income that the child "earns" as that is tax deductible. Of course this is not financial advice and consult your own tax professional.

What is not protected is working in an industrial factory all day. Hell I had a job at target when I was 17 and I was allowed to do anything other than operate the trash compactor as that was heavy machinery. A sweep of factories and other heavy industry for child labor is not going to exacerbate child poverty

Given how big shipping is for international trade, I'd say that being next to and having control of waterways is even more important today. Especially given this more or less global drought.

You've hit the nail on the head. I worked at Kroger for 7 years, and I remember how stressed out management was that year. The stock had tanked, especially after Amazon bought Whole Foods. We had hours cut from 2016 to 2021 every year with entire departments consolidated and removed. Every new hire became part time with next to no benefits. Old workers were forced out, some for no reason and others for good reasons. I really am glad to be a customer and not a worker anymore. I'm fairly cynical of the merger as well.

There have been many "leaks" of classified information. Just because you and your associated coworkers didn't leak doesn't mean that leaks don't happen, unfortunately.
