Apple, please make a new 12" Macbook for those of us who travel and want the lightest weight possible. Less than 2 lbs, thinner than the Air, but without the compromises of the Neo. I'd pay more than the Air price for this. Or, make the Air lighter and thinner (to match the iPhone Air in approach?).

this is fun. my first test hits 125wpm. bursts up to 162wpm. 100% accuracy. seems too easy, though -- no capitals, nums, etc?

More accurate would be to call it TikTok for Links, not for text, as text without links isn't allowed.

For years now I have used "-pinterest" on every regular search term I utilize (I bake that into any Google bookmark). Would applaud the removal of Pinterest from search results.

Why does MCAS have to take control of trim at all? Would it not be sufficient to alert the pilot of an imminent stall situation so they can adjust the angle of attack themselves? Is it because doing so would put the MAX too far afield from the old 737 such that it would require simulator training?

Yes, have tried this. Comes back working and then develops the same problem shortly thereafter. Further, Apple Stores are about a 2.5hr drive for me, so I can't just easily keep popping in for every issue -- especially if I think the fix won't last anyway.

Trying this out. I like it more than I thought I would. But a couple comments:

1) The sounds appear to all be the same, regardless of key. Seems there should be some subtle variation in the sound, even if it just a very slight modulation in pitch? This would better map with real mechanical keyboards.

2) The sounds appear too far delayed to me. Like it's slightly out of sync w/ my typing. I turned off the keyup sound—which helps—but not enough. It may be this is a limitation you can't overcome.

3) The sound quality seems low. Maybe obtain higher quality samples and/or don't compress it so much?

I'm okay with the travel changes (and even sometimes prefer it to the old generation).

I am unhappy about the increased sound, but can live with it.

But the regular problems with repeating keys is an insane regression in functionality. I have this problem with a different key almost every day (today it's my 'i' key), but most days one of the keys repeats itself every time I activate iti, such that—see, that "iti" was a perfect example (I corrected the others)—and the repeat happens usually after the following letter. Drives. me. crazy.

Interesting results (thanks for the SciHub link), but also a call for more research. Not enough info yet to rule out a likely explanation: that those who seek therapy were already in a negative situation, and thus the therapy is a symptom of a problem rather than the cause of one. They discuss additional interesting angles about it near the end, re therapists who don't follow standard protocols, patients who don't stay with therapy, etc.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the loss of the ESC key. I use Vim and touch that key all day long. Replacing that with a touch button sounds like a terrible idea for usability. Clearly nobody in charge at Apple is also a vi user.

Beyond not removing the ESC key, I want 32-64 GB RAM, a 2TB drive option (or more), and no more weight.

the artist uses NLP in Python to do analysis of an original text (Fahrenheit 451), uses that to swap out nouns/verbs with "scary" versions, then uses Markov chains on the fly in Javascript to generate unique scary stories for each email.

I've found that google alerts rarely reports new hits on my terms anymore. I know this because I also use their time tools in search to find new hits, and what it finds almost never comes in as an alert anymore. When it does it's often quite old.

i'm not going to try it when i don't know what it does. 'capture tweets' doesn't tell me enough to entice me experiment with an app that suggests what I do might end up on twitter.

just tried it on a large PDF. Chrome takes about 1 second to load while FF takes 10, and the visual result in FF is nearly unreadable (while in Chrome it looks just like it does in Acrobat). i'd love to have nice open-source native PDF support, but this surely doesn't cut it for release.

I feel the same way about sites with special iPad interfaces. Every time I visit one I start to see/read the content as it loads and then the site goes blank while some heavy and slow annoying swipe theme finally comes up. when this happens I just leave.

this browser extension removes all quantifying counts from the Facebook interface. friend, like, and comment counts all disappear. '16 people like this' becomes 'people like this'. 'View 8 other comments' becomes 'View other comments'.
