My company runs AWS cloud all 20 of the non government regions as well, google cloud, and our own data centers around the world. Yeah certain regions (hello eu-north-1) are problemmatic, but we have work arounds for that. Terraform has been fine.

I have to use both. I find google easier to do simple things.. but I find it lacks some of the flexibility AWS has for less simple things.

Well, that and Google's managed k8s solution was down for multiple days awhile back when I was doing a comparison. Another reason I use EKS atm.... despite I think GKE is a bit better.

Not even in the same universe. Containers using some managed k8s (EKS, or GKE) cluster with helm is ridiculously easier to manage a dynamic sets of applications running than bare amis. I have a k8s cluster that runs across >1k ec2 instances where I have thousand of containers running various jobs. I can apply/delete any massive deployment across that literally in seconds. with a single command.

The layers make it a lot lot easier here.

Yeah. Terraform is the mature standard for this. To me it feels like OP isn't that familiar with large scale infra work.

That is not my experience. I've been shipping code for >20 years across a ton of platforms. MS tech has always been a snowflake headache.

I do machine learning--- but hate the overhead headache with DoD work. However if they paid me enough, of course :P

Oh, they understood it, top tier mobile devs, they just thought it was trash. Drastically preferred to do native. I went to bat for them, and we shipped a beautiful app on time.

And now someone else will easily pick up the contract, and Google loses any ability at all to influence it. Perhaps they could have reduced civilian casualities more so than whoever picks it up.

Nope, not me. When I leave a company I purge all code, all documents, all access to any services etc.

My division got laid off... my company is paying my full salary + bonus through my enforced non-compete duration of a year, which I think is the right thing to do if they're going to enforce such. (and knowing what I know, and what I worked on, it's in their best interests)

She and I love traveling and travel a lot-- I wanted her ring to represent every place mankind has gone/will go to in our lifetime.... I bet there are few objects in the world that have been combined with pieces from so many distant origins.

My girlfriend said the same thing. I did however get her a diamond (she doesn't know about it yet)... but it cost me 1/20th the price as I have a friend in that industry. I would not have paid retail for a diamond as I know how much of a rip off it is.

The rest of the ring I'm including fragments from a martian meteorite, a lunar meteorite, and a deep space iron meteorite...... and then other gems from every continent. :)

I got a ticket-- been lucky the last four years.

Frustrating experience every year.

I "got" a ticket three times, but Google Wallet times out and wouldn't let me buy the first two. The third time around (after waiting in the queue), I noticed an ajax request being fired when you clicked the "buy" button (which would become disabled.... it would time out and it would still sit there as if it were doing something. Reenabled the button, pressed it again... it fired off the request... timed out... timed out... then finally it made it and kicked me to the rest of the registration process. Apparently refreshing the "buy" Google Wallet page would work too.
