Fun Fact. Lee Kuan Yew was a computer scientist before becoming politican and coded solving sudoku and shared his code over github also mentioned he wanted to learn haskell. Looks like computer scientists would make great politican's once elected but getting elected requires a different set of skills, luckily for Lee Kuan his father paved the way before him.

You did not say it explicitly but your comment hints that indian devs are below mediocre. I will share my perspective as a native guy. My experience is 15 years in dev(mostly c++) experience worked in 6 different companies and have taken up contract gigs in erlang and android(writing ejabberd extensions). Infosys, wipro, tcs and other service based companies have really below mediocre dev's. But other than that the enterprise org's such as emc square, oracle, hp etc have dev's from mediocre to good. The Big Four company dev's (especially amazon) are definitely above mediocre. One observation is while working at enterprise org's i have never seen any 10x people(like the admiration type) on the US or European companies. Only read peoples blog posts. So it seems the 10x people only exist at Big Four or they move there quickly before.

The BJP(current government) has neither the brains and nor the motivation to develop the country. All they want to do is get the country back to the vedic period(which is nothing but denting the education to the majority of the people). The leader of the party Modi was in the ads(jio) publicly. It was a public announcement by the corporate to the other organizations that they own the government. Also this same government banned the beef. This government is more like trump focusing on religious hatred for votes and nothing more that that(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2002_Gujarat_riots was led by the current leader and prime minister of the party).

This post gives the impression to the reader that RMS had put his ego first and then rationalized it with fsf philosophy. From what i had read online he was pissed off when the printer manufacturer at MIT stopped sharing the source code to modify the software and he has formed(or thought about it and discovered) his philosophical leanings at that time. Very soon symbolics was formed developing closed source software and he was invited to it. But he believed strongly in his philosophy and was working hard to keep the free software up to date which symbolics was developing. Also the symbolics engineer had told in one of the interviews they were 5 people and RMS single handedly was keeping up with them. So the conclusion i had was he was 5x capable to the symbolics engineers (who are very smart people) and if he was that capable he could have become rich easily, but due to his strong philosophical belief he sacrificed his life for the greater good. If you have the links to the contrary please share.

All the states in india have the practice of people having their caste name as their surname except in the state of Tamilnadu(about 70 million population). This was due to one atheist man's effort who opposed the caste system Periyar(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Periyar_E._V._Ramasamy). He broke the ganesha statue on the day of buddha's birthday as an act of protesting the use of ganesha to instigate the religious violence for political benefits. Ganesha was created to stop people from converting to buddhism. That's why ganesha was always found under the palm tree which is buddha's place. Also ganesha statue is made gigantic and is taken in to streets and made more entertaining festival inorder to create more merriness and keep people more engaged and not to feel left out. But at the same time Ganesha statue is disolved in water after about 10 days, this is beacause the non-brahmin people who were allowed to do the priest duty for 10 days should not become a competion to the brahmin priests.

Paying more is the one real way to keep good software devs. Everything else is secondary. The real problem is every companay big or small is under risk of getting vanished. So software devs are looking the jobs like a sprint and not a marathon. Don't get this wrong, improving the skills and learning new languages are constantly practised by good devs but money is the real motive to stay.

Any indian who has some understanding of veda and caste system will immediately identify the problem here. It is run by singhs and singhs are not hindus by that i mean they discard varna system, vedas and caste system. The current government BJP is a strong religious organization with Brahmins in key positions who have lots to lose if caste system is abolished. The move by the indian BJP government is to progress hindutva ideology.

This is very true in Indian caste system. In fact in indian caste ladder system, one become lesser human as one takes birth in the lesser caste hierarchy. Except the Brahmin community in the indian caste system others castes are denied education as per the vedas. During the british rule everone got access to education and every one is trying to be a equal human fighting the caste system.

Thanks so much for implementing this idea. Very nice idea. Whenever i want to watch a movie its hard to find whats best with imdb or google search because its so generalized. But if a movie is liked by John Carmack, Michael Nielsen, Steve Yegee or Elon Musk then the chance of me liking is really great.

Exactly similar thing in india. This is happened with all indian Brahmins settled in United States. Top on the caste ladder, denied education to other castes and when british conquered india and gave education to other castes they started to move to united states, the Brahmins who are staying in india have missed that chance and can not compete now as other castes are competing too.

Was a user of "Adblock plus". They partnered with ad agencies and started to whitelist ads. That defeted the whole purpose and also it became clear the for profit organizations can not fight against the ad agencies as they have to partner if they want to make profit.

Ublock origin is so much awesome. Its free software and also very easy to use and its actually much more than adblocker.

This is cool. I really love these type of posts where the people under discussion is not in the main stream but should have been popular in programming groups. John Carmack talks also is of that type. Very charismatic and delivers his speech standing at the same place with minimal movement for over an hour and talking from the fundamentals to the extreme details of the topics.

I have worked as a backend developer in product company for about 8 years. I honestly never came across an US/foreign developer who is > 1.1X my ability. I guess except the big four companies all developers (US/indian) have same level of programming competence on average. The only variation is the cultural comfort.
