Like others have said quitting without a plan is a bad idea. Start working on finding a job that's more in line with your personality.

You don't know if your ideas have a market. Get users if you think your ideas are worth pursuing. Sell first, build later. In the mean time build up cash to extend your runway. 2-3 months is too short.

Congrats Patrick (she said yes)! You have been an inspiration to tons of folks on HN that are starting out on their own. Wish you the best for 2012 and beyond.

There are very few people who have done better than the market over a long period of time. So unless you are as skilled as Buffett, you are better off with low cost index funds.

This is a great essay! I highly recommend "A Random walk down wall street" to anyone thinking about investing.

More proof that its not so much about the idea, but execution. You are always going to have clones if the idea you are working on is worthwhile. What you need is a team that can churn out features to crush your competition.

You are right :)... Too many blogs about FB! I meant to say insideFB, but typed FBsecrets instead... but its the same argument. Neither of these is owned by FB so its not Mark or FB lying.

How is FBSecrets the same as FB? To me it just seems to be some blog that is cashing in on the FB brand. I don't think Mark or Facebook has anything to do with this.
