What Automattic wants from WPE as laid outs in their term sheet is to dictate what WPE contributes and audit their accounting. But why would the code quality suck if features or maintenance of supported systems was prioritized ahead of arcane architectures? Time is a limited resource, so why should extreme portability be considered the holy grail?

Imho the most important part of the x86 standardization is the IBM pc platform. Arm boards doesn't have an equivalent platform to standardize on, so everybody does their own thing.

I guess it's a ROI issue. Low effort answers to many easy questions gets you many points, while novel questions which requires thorough understanding is high effort and few points.

Stovetops with capacitive buttons are much nicer than the cheaper resistive buttons. Never had any problems with the two inductive stovetops I have owned, but vacation homes with cheaper electric stovetops with resistive buttons is more hassle. The flat surface of both variants makes them easy to keep clean and child lock.

Most work on Linux is paid[0]. However, asking paid people to do work that does not align with their employers interest nor the project maintainers, is on par with what you're asking.
