Nah, well related militia was not a restriction on the right, it was a reason for everyone to have the right. You have to remember that the Constitution doesn't give the people rights, it delineates the governments rights. The 1st 10 amendment's were added because the anti- federalists were (rightly) worried that the government would misappropriated all powers and eventually the people would no longer be free. They were basically a list of rights for a minimum viable free society.

So there is your problem: you don't see the right as being people, yet want the right to see you as a person.

Think bell curve distribution and population size. That's a big difference, all other things being equal. The US just has quantitatively more individuals to the far right of the curve, just based on population size. Then cultural differences- US highly prizes individualism (or used to, at least). Japan prized homogeneity, conformance, and Zen style perfection.

History is a vector. If you think of it that way, it makes sense that some groups end up with relatively more negative outcomes than others. Our moral obligation is to provide everyone with the tools to overcome whatever disadvantages their ancestral vector has placed on them.
