Card rules vary frequently, down to daily. Also, many rewards have limits (both min and max). Wallaby helps you keep track.

We need to launch in one market first. We intend to do chip solutions in the future.

Good points. We have upgraded our encryption scheme since writing this page. I think trying to explain security to lay people and make them confident is a difficult challenge. We'll get this updated and re-written.

Bosses aren't someone to fear. I think investors are overseers of my performance and people to whom I am accountable, therefor, my bosses. I'm not afraid of them. Never work for people you are afraid of.

What I don't understand is why I didn't get a notification of the shutdown. As a paying customer I shouldn't read about it on HN. I used the service primarily to shield myself in hotels/coffeeshops, but I know the NSA can get to me if they want to and I don't really care.

I appreciate the high ground CryptoSeal is coming from, but from a customer standpoint I don't think this was done well.

Startup lessons 13 years ago

The problem with "rules" is that they live in an ideal world, not the real world. "Give up only 15% of your company" sure, if you are the next Google, but even then every raise they did wasn't perfect. Let's be honest there is an ideal way you would build a company, but it doesn't exist for anybody. Startups are hard and messy. You do the best you can, but you can't just know in advance you're picking the best idea, the best people and fundraising quickly. It's not like that at all.

This list of BINs/IINs is not very accurate beyond the first two digits identifying card network.

I think the market punishes Apple because the market is all about future performance and Apple has reached a very high amount of growth and stability over time. That isn't to say it won't continue to do well, but when information is priced in, it's hard to justify the multiples. The businesses are very different--stock price is certainly not indicative of anything engineers think or care about.

In general, I think people put too much weight on the degree. You should hire people because of their skills, background, promise and personality. If they have an MBA is a credential not a reason to/not to hire. I also know a bunch of devs with JDs, but that's not important to whether they can code!
