First off FreeBSD FTW. I use it everywhere over Linux now for the first time in 25 years and couldn’t be happier. My only wish is that BSD had a better non-CoW file system. Databases and Blockchains are already CoW so it does irk me slightly to use zfs for them. That being said, I’ve never had a problem because of it.

Yes this is a wrapper and it persisted iptables well. But for anyone that says shorewall is just a wrapper, probably just skimmed a manual and don’t understand the real genius here.

what shorewall really did was make iptables feel like a polished usable firewall. iptables on its own is shit to work with. shorewall made it easy to use in so many cases.

congrats on your retirement and thanks for a great tool that I used for many years.

Andy was a very close friend and the best coworker that I’ve ever had. I recently did a personal reference for him and he was looking to work out here on the east coast. I’m crushed that I just found this out on HN through a friend. Andy was like a magnet. One of those people that you generally wanted to be around. In my eyes he was the perfect mixture of skill, hilarity, and crudeness. I tell stories almost every day of things we’ve done at work and out of work. We drank a lot of beer, did a lot of engineering, and pulled a lot of stunts. At the end of the day he proved to a lot of people you can engineer, sell, and be an insane rebel when it comes to the work environment. This is a life taken way too soon. I’ll miss you andy. -sean

api. all good questions.

1) The IPv6 ends at helium's routing network. So, to and from the bridge can be ipv6 or ipv4. The devices ipv6 addresses live on the helium edge routers themselves. I think on our website it's a graphic that says "platform".

2) You are close. The devices are a custom protocol (no tcp/ip or udp at the device). 802.15.4 frames.

3) replace cloud-db with a distributed system that your programs and helium's programs can subscribe to, and send and receive data to helium devices or groups of device.. You will be able to communicate to the helium network, the same way our fusion application does.

First question I have. Do you at least have a double trigger in your stock agreement.

New CTO / Wants your out. Some stock option agreements have a double trigger where this can make you vest 100%. Make sure to look over it thoroughly.

Great writeup. Dave took the time to help me with the same issue (sending an interface to a nil channel) and I am grateful.
