Does anyone know why exactly payments in apps also require the iPhone 6? I thought that iPhone 5S also had a secure element for storing data (Touch ID).

It does, and the tag works as per the beta.

I don't want to detract, but it's a shame that your https://stripe.com/checkout page isn't optimised for mobile. I wanted to have a look at the demo on my phone as well as on my desktop.

I think they would still include standard disclaimers, just add the options and leave the risk with the gamer.

Perhaps an interesting discussion is whether games should provide options to disable features that might be dangerous.

SSL pinning on iOS is now very easy. AFNetworking 1 supported it and AFNetworking 2 has made it a great deal easier.

Pinning by public key means makes upgrades and certificate renewal less of a problem.

You're right, it's not an absolute fix.

It would have prevented requests from an authenticated browser (without a mobile UA) from being accepted, reducing the effectiveness of the attack.

I think a lot of it comes down to this:

What advice do you have to someone who wants to do something similar, and in particular, what advice do you have on choosing a product to sell?

I definitely want to try a mattress and see how it feels before I buy it. Especially if it's going to cost a lot of money.

A lot of comments here are saying things like "I wouldn't be able to persuade my team/non-technical colleagues to use this instead of HipChat". Surely one the most exciting uses for Gitter is discussion on open-source repos, where you aren't already communicating with repo collaborators?

What mistakes do you think AFNetworking has made?

With AFNetworking 2.0, you'll use AFHTTPRequestOperationManager in iOS 6 and AFHTTPSessionManager in iOS 7 rather than AFHTTPClient.

It's when I need to send 2M a month that there will be problems.

This is significantly cheaper than Urban Airship, which charges $0.50 to send 500 messages. Amazon will deliver between 500k and 1M for the same money. That's at least one good reason to use the service.

Very cool - I notice it works well on iOS Safari too.

Any plans for a native app or mobile optimised interface? For some apps, being able to touch is going to make the demo experience much better, and hopefully convert more users to paid installs.

Couple of issues in Chrome; you can't add a webpage to the home screen with the share button, as that's only present in Safari. Tapping the status bar jumps to the top of the very long web form, which was kinda frustrating but may not be fixable. Chrome hides the address/toolbar bar, so tapping the status bar is necessary to get the bar.

From a product perspective, it's actually not clear that you're listing a property for rent until you hit the move in date or pcm price screens. I'd probably tidy up the photos section to allow adding arbitrary photos with a label rather than the list of repeating forms. The deposit term probably needs to be more flexible (or accept a numerical value).

I didn't go past the confirmation screen in case it published a listing!

I think people only complained about developing for Android because iOS was so easy with a handful of devices to develop and test for.

That and the media needed something to write about.

Clearly the big boys visit universities because they have the resources to do so. If siliconmilkroundabout were to visit on behalf of a body of startups this would clearly be more efficient than every startup trying to send one man. I'd love to see this happen and I think it would have a huge impact on students, especially given the contrast with other visitors. How it is funded would be an issue and perhaps donors would see their company specifically promoted but I think that can be worked out.

Have you contacted universities directly? I studied at the University of Birmingham and they had a named contact for getting in touch with students. That person often forwarded relevant communication (job opportunities, recruitment events) to us and I took my first job based on one of those emails.

I agree with robfitz that people don't talk about startups. The companies that do the milkround are the usual suspects. Accenture, Deloitte, Procter and Gamble etc...
