Yes, I know. There are toooooo many Pomodoro timers out there. But most of them have bad UI, are pricey, or just feel clunky for Gen Z users.

So I built https://studyfoc.us — a beautiful, aesthetic, no-login Pomodoro timer with built-in site blocking and a Chrome extension. Simple enough to just hit "start" and focus.

In 7 days: - 800 users - 1.9k pageviews - Avg session ~1 min - No ads, just posted on some communities on Facebook and Reddit

Next: building an iOS app with app blocking + premium tools. Web stays free.

It is React Native

Yes, this app still in active development so I am using it daily.

I also faced the issue of run out of things to say, so I made a suggestion features, it will analyze the chat messages and give a list of suggestion to speak.

I think they won't pursue legal action for such language learning app. But still posible. That's why I only show the names of AI characters.

I experience the same as well, they will ask you to give a review at the end. I think this is a smart strategy. Software developers have been doing it for years when they ask users to leave a review in the app. And I dont think there is any ethical intention here. If you don't want to leave a good review then you can ignore their request.

Btw, the review system is always rigged. Same story at Yelp, AppStore, TrustPilot, Agoda. Instead of reading the good review, you can filter out them and read the bad review firsts.

It is a stupid action. We do the code review all the time, but we do review the commits on Github. It is unreasonable to print it on the paper. I believe it is just a marketing tactic of Elon.

The touchpad works like magic for me, can't see go back to the window trackpad anymore. I also don't like the mouse, my hand hurts after using it few hours.

Building a product is easy but takes a lot of time, that's why you need some marketing skills and validate your product carefully before put your time into the product.

Btw, your story is not alone. There are thoundsand of products are built everyday and just a few of them get to the top of product hunt (yet still out of business).

I find that I don't need any app. I use Slack everyday so I just direct message to my own Slack. I started by writing a list of tasks that are needed to be done in the day. Important tasks are bold.

When I finish a task, I simply edit the message and put a success checkmark in front of the completed item.

Thanks, I found this template yesterday and almost getting a wow because I see it on HN today.

We don't need any scientist to explain why we don't want to learn as we age. The simple reason is we have too much responsibilities as an adult. As an adult, we have to: - Take care for the kids - Take care for our partners. - Take care for our job - Cooking and cleaning the house every day.

In order to learn something we have to focus, imagine getting disturb every 15 minutes because of our responsibilities above. We will give up learning soon.

Actually I found out the when I grow up, my thinking ability getting better than when I was a child.

I am experiment the same problem. As a software developer, I spend all my day on computer and mobile phone. Recently, I have a the feeling that it take me a while to recall the name of a friend. Or even searching for a solution. It could be the side effect of all of the autocomplete and search result which are accessible within my palm.

Wait, there is a fs/promises module? I still use Bluebird.promisify in every recently project :facepalm:

If this system is all made from random mutation than I should expect my body could possiblely go brick every second. But it still works perfectly util now.
