I've been a developer since the late 90s. I'm the founder of Social Tables. Born in Israel, raised in New York, living in DC.

Love that WebGL is getting attention. Native browser support is gorgeous and becoming more available as people continue to upgrade. We at Social Tables (socialtables.com) been using it with three.js to do real-time rendering of floor plans and events!

How to Apply:
We're serious about compensation: salary and equity commensurate with experience. Shoot me a note (dan@socialtables.com), a note with a couple lines about yourself and your LinkedIn page so we can get the conversation started. Thanks!
Everyone should tweet about this and make sure to include their twitter handles: @WhosHere and @lightbank
what's so awful about it?
Interesting detail... the goods are randomized on page load. Nice.
+1 for Sublime. It is awesome... and for someone like me who switches b/w Windows and Linux, it's the perfect IDE.
How awesome is it that he is tweeting from the deepest point on earth?
I love the fact all warez groups stick to the old tradition of only making the 'i' lowercase in their names.
I don't think so because people oftentimes click on things that may be of interest to them but that they don't want to validate through an upvote.
+1 for honesty
One of the unintended uses for this tool is for founders to figure out what the competitive market salary is for positions they're trying to fill.
Having using Blueprint extensively, it's great if you're trying to get a basic grid going and not much more. It's super lightweight but doesn't offer the features of Bootstrap.
Does the fact they specifically include MySpace in Section H, subsection a, in the original Request for Information indicate just how disconnected the people who are writing these are from consumer internet trends?
Another reason to not user Tumblr is David Karp's [the founder's] attitude. http://getoffmyinternets.net/2011/05/31/david-karp-will-tell...
And perhaps they should specify whether they're looking for full time work or freelance.
A little late to the party. I blame the hangover I had yesterday :)
Social Tables (http://www.socialtables.com), a funded, DC-based startup is looking for a Senior Developer/VP of Engineering (employee #1, wahoo!).
If you immediately thought that this startup makes databases social, you're the kind of person we're looking for and you'll fit right in. Please read on :)
Social Tables is the seating plan platform for events. You know how weddings, galas and other large events have assigned seating? Well, the biggest PITA in planning these events is figuring out how to seat guests (it can take weeks). Our cloud-based software solves that problem.
Since launching in May 2011, we've seated 43k guests at 450 different events. We're expanding rapidly through big strategic partnerships and aggressive customer acquisition.
In this role, your responsibilities will be to lead product development of our next version. We prefer Rails but if PHP is your weapon of choice, that's cool. You should also be proficient in JavaScript since things will be a little heavier on the client-side going forward.
You must be a motivated self-starter who is energized by teamwork and loves to learn new things.
Traction aside, right now is the perfect time to join Social Tables and we would love to tell you why. In addition to competitive compensation, you will get serious equity (we agree with Naval in his recent post on this issue - http://startupboy.com/2011/12/13/why-you-cant-hire/).
If this sounds interesting to you, email me: dan [at] socialtables dot [com!]
Thanks for reading and applying!
I don't blame you with going with this one. I mean, the first sentence of the first post reads "Wow, this is one great ladle."
This is a god damn outrage. To what point will corporate america keep pushing the envelope until consumers revolt?
You are wrong. I used to work for a very senior Member of Congress. First of all, as the politician, you never pick up the phone. Your interns or Staff Assistants do so.
Second, staff talks to each other all the time (they work in a bullpen like setting) so they are always aware of the issues that are reaching the office, especially if it happens in volumes. Interns report these calls to their managers, especially since they have to ask for instructions on how to deal with them.
Finally, any staff member worth her salt will write a memo to the principal to inform them of such campaigns.
There are limits to how much can be given. Most of the huge huge huge donations go to organizations such as the DNC and RNC where the limits are less strict.
Probably the best way to stop SOPA and show Members of Congress that we're serious is to make sure Lamar Smith (TX-21), the bill's original sponsor, loses. I'm still not sure which Dem is running against him though [1]

I agree with a lot of people here. This is clearly a direct result of the harsh public backlash they've faced from the community. This statement can only be taken at face value until they do much more than post a public statement rescinding their support. We should continue pushing them and they should publicly speak against SOPA to its supporters and in Congress. They need to walk the walk not just talk the talk.
I am, however, a little confused.
Wasn't the goal of the campaign against GoDaddy to convince them to no longer support SOPA? Isn't this a small victory? If people in the community are not going to support them no matter what they do, where is their incentive to change behavior? I understand the cynicism but we need to also reward companies doing the right thing, even if they took some wrong turns along the way.

He is obviously not motivated by money and most people aren't when you dig deeper. Many geeks want to achieve mastery, succumb new challenges, etc. I recommend watching this [1] 10m video out about what drives us to understand this a little more.
This is the kind of site that people want to share and can go viral quite quickly. You should add the usual suspects of share buttons: Twitter, Fb and LinkedIn.
This is class warfare just not by standard definition.
It's not the proletariat vs the bourgeoisie. It's Apple vs. PC.
Sure the phones are the same price... but we all know that the perception is that the cool kids use Apple these days, and so the cool apps are only on iOS, and if you don't have a Mac you're just not a cool technologist. So that's the class warfare... cool vs blah.
I, for one, think it's ironic that just a decade ago Apple was for the noncoformist and today it's so mainstream it's boring.
Is that Malcolm Gladwell in the coffee shop at 2:53?
The best content came out of the Q&A at ~69m. A guy asked two questions: (1) how do you find the angle about what to publish content about and (2) when do you start publishing content to get inbound traffic?
Rand responded: He goes to topsy top 1000 [1], alltop [2] to find featured blogs that are getting the most buzz, Google Plus popular section, the subreddit most relevant to you, and followerwonk [3] to see what the top 100 twitter accounts in your industry are talking about
Basically, all of the above actions get you immersed in the market you're trying to penetrate and gives you an understanding of what will be of value to them. You can then use this information to generate content that will go viral.
Unfortionately, he didn't answer the second question :(
