As someone who just recently was re-diagnosed for active major depression after a major back surgery this article hits very hard. I recently discussed inpatient treatments with my psychiatrist too. I can understand what the husband was feeling... that the nothing of death was greater than the feelings of life. It's difficult to work with healthcare in general - add a mental issue on top of that and it feels impossible. You have to constantly advocate for yourself since each doctor will only do what is required for their subspecialty and you also have to fight insurance on the other side.

Specifically regarding mental related items are treated as lesser than physical issues. I have Kaiser who has actively been punished by the US Department of Labor [1](2026) [2](2021) for delays in behavioral health care and pushing for out of network therapist. They tried to push these therapist on me twice, both through RULA and it was really a terrible experience. The therapist literally ended my meeting 10 minutes into our discussion when I told him I hadn't finished reading the book he recommended. I am now with an in-house kaiser therapist that is working well. I worry about the psychiatric side of the house as well, they set me up to only meet with my psychiatrist once every three months. That doesn't feel frequent enough to get my medication tuned right.

I don't see this getting better in the future with the current leadership in the US advocating for a "return control to the patients" by reducing SSRI prescriptions. [3]

My only advice for people out there is to take their mental health seriously, if you are having suicidal thoughts talk to your doctor. It may end up being a difficult journey but its better than being alone.

I think there will eventually be pushback from companies that want to keep their IP secrets. The current standard of "we dont train on your data" but we summarize all your input and output, meaning its not your data anymore and we can train on that.

They cut much more than DEI programs. They aggressively and ignorantly cut jobs and grants which could have benefited the planet and saved lives.

Some Improvements that could help: the location search could be an actual map with pins which would be easier to use some kind of tags for the different appareal items would help clarify which one, currently i have to click and search each vendor for things im looking for. Specifically autistic friendly / sensory clothing items.

I'm new to using more than one agent in a flow so forgive my ignorance here but I have a few questions.

Do you review all the files that are generated to ensure there's no hallucinations? Do you just review the last file of concise findings instead?

Is the intent here that the hallucinations will be countered by running through multiple agents that you end up with only the truth? Have you seen anything in the last version that was egregiously wrong?

I was worried about the cost but if you are using local hosted models, then I suppose you don't need to deal with that as much. Locally hosted models still have issues running commands locally and reaching out to the internet right? So this is all just them running with the context of the file, without reference tot he rest of the project?

Honestly one of the good use cases for AI. Small low complexity scripts and tools for assistance is a great use case. I'm amazed at the folks that are doing huge monolith rewrites with Agents and such, but I've never had good results for that. Small time saving scripts gets me a much more direct return on investment.

During his last term yes, during this term no they haven't. They could at least be pushing for this, there's a few republicans on the out of Trumps circle, maybe they could make some movement. Right, as in, does not accept an email as a parameter. If its anything like my company they are turning out "agents" super fast and just hooking them up to internal APIs usually via a light MCP wrapper. Since MCP doesn't have any security or auth built in, and internal APIs usually are light on security you have issues like this.

When our product managers just send us AI generated JIRA tickets that are extremely long but contain no actual details and tons of irrelevant or wrong content I get extremely frustrated and are seen as not a team player. At that point I’d rather not have the product managers present in the process.

I was a bit annoyed with an IC recently because he would just respond to peoples messages with "Heres with Claude says".

He didn't understand why I was so annoyed because we have been pushing them to use AI for everything.

I had to explain to him, its like when google first came about, yes you can just send people Let me Google that for you links, or you can respond politely and reasonably to build a relationship. In the end I don't think he got it and it's something I'll need to continue working on with him.

That's the deep dive that I want to see. A breakdown of the policy failures that lead to this situation.

Why is a tank this large of a chemical that can have runaway thermal reaction allowed in an area 500ft from residential areas? Why is this chemical allowed in an area that is considered light manufacturing?

Things will continue to get worse until people get too desperate and extreme things happen. Then some politician will realize this can rise to power on this, delivering only a few small promises which will lightly alleviate the pressure and then we continue the cycle again.

We’ve got this C Level guy at my work, who’s in charge of the AI offerings at our company. Every few weeks he does a presentation to the entire company where he pulls up this vibe coded locally hosted html file that is supposed to be this huge new workforce solution. It’s so scary to see him present this as if it’s working and not just a locally hosted mockup at best. Sales and Marketing do not see this as just a design presentation instead seeing something they can actively sell. I don’t know when this will backfire on us, when I brought it up to our VP he said “well maybe he’s selling the idea and a few years down the road after the contracts are signed they will build it”. I think this is just how corporate America is going to work now.

I think if there were any solution to the lack of jobs due to AI implementation then people would be fine. There isn’t any solution from either party in the US so people are naturally attacking the thing that is causing the problem.

They were taking readings of the outside of the container thinking everything was okay but this morning they got to see the gauge on the internal temp reading showing a jump from 77 yesterday to 90 today. That’s why the had the evacuation rescinded and now extended it again.

I'm a manager and the VPs are starting to ask - how many story points are we getting with AI now. Now we do story points = number of days to implement. (I know this is not real agile but just assume you are in the same position)

I can't answer that question but plenty of other managers are fully ready to just give bogus numbers.

For my team, use of AI has indeed lowered the story point cost. The coding part of the story takes less work so we have started to lower the story point cost for stories that would previously cost more. Think of a 5SP to 3SP reduction.

We have increased the number of features being delivered but our number of story points delivered has remained static.

The thing I keep coming back to is - does it matter?

Really does it matter if a company produces something that breaks constantly or gets worse or slower.(See github) Megacorps have a wide moat and have forced out all competition or they just buy them with low interest loans.

The quality of products keeps getting worse and we can do nothing but live with it. So if that's the state of the world, why wouldn't you just push as many "features" as fast as possible. More is rewarded. Less is punished. Quality does not matter.

Bans from the AppStores will go a long way to removing this behavior. Sure a few die hards will always find a way to gamble, that does not mean we should not have regulations for the majority.

I have called this line in particular during a sever major depression episode. I tried calling my fraternities mental wellness hotline first but it went unanswered which I thought was quite funny at the time.

The rep was able to talk me down through my spiraling thoughts. Told me that "no your therapist was not egging you on when he said well why don't you commit suicide what's holding you back". He was instead trying to figure out my reasons for living.

They do not automatically call the police and telling people they do is harmful. My anecdotal evidence has been a much better experience, and others I know who have called have said the same.

I'm not sure what would cause them to send the police but having a safe line to call when you have nothing else is important. Maybe the change that should happen here is having social workers or other mental health representatives respond, not getting rid of the phoneline.

Same I'll be switching off Cursor today to either claude code or kiro. Luckily my company lets us choose which agentic software we want to use. I won't touch anything Musk is related to, he is toxic and anything he touches turns toxic and supports him.
