Also I can't see why the original comment is about "hating on Apple". All I see is legitimate criticism about some issues with Apple products, that apparently many other people have too. Your comment on the other side is very emotional and full of snide remarks.

Yes, this is really my biggest issue with the new MacBooks or rather was my biggest issue, until I found out there are numerous magnetic connectors and complete cables for USB-C[1].

Now that I use such a cable (L shape, like MagSafe 1), I find it better than the T shaped MagSafe 2 cables, which would disconnect/fall off all the time from my 2015 MBP.

Why do folks that don‘t want to use them even care?

It’s not that when they are used, different code is produced. As with the editors color scheme, it’s just a personal choice everyone can live out within the privacy of his or her editor.

Personally I find it nice to represent single logical tokens like => or === with just a single character.

Inkjets still have a few advantages or are at least on par with Laser printers:

- Borderless printing (Photos, your invoices with a footer that has a blue background, …)

- Much cheaper to restock with 3rd party cartridges or even cheaper when you have one with refillable tanks

- You can print on photo paper and get out really nice looking photos. Generally the quality of images with a good Inkjet is better than laser imho

- You can print on a very broad array of different kinds of papers, formats and materials, many printers can even print on blu-ray discs and stuff like that

- Many modern Inkets use Ink that is water resistant, so you can use a marker pen on your printouts for example

- Time to first page is usually shorter (no warmup needed)

- No risk of Ozone hazards (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laser_printing#Ozone_hazards)

- Usually smaller form-factor

This might actually be the most impressive thing I‘ve seen here in a while.

Following the introduction tutorial, in which you add to the Radicle Garden[2] (which is a nice idea btw.), I get a 'The machine owner appears to be offline' when I try to propose my changes.

I think the very idea of Radicle is nice, but having a rock solid VCS is crucial to a developers workflow, so they really need to iron things like that out.

If you are on macOS and use Postgres, give https://eggerapps.at/postico/ a try. Haven't used a better DB GUI Client and it looks great with Mojaves new dark mode :-)

Afaik Terminal.app still doesn’t support true color, let alone such things as ligatures.

Seems macOS Terminal app still hasn't True Color support. Tried running https://github.com/tclamb/iTerm2/blob/d0ecb297727a59c9ee5511... both in Terminal app and iTerm 2, and only iTerm 2 shows all colors, whereas Terminal app still shows only some colors. My VIM themes also look more bleak in the default Terminal app.

Looking forward to Mojave dropping support for subpixel-antialiasing and maybe iTerm supporting Ligatures with the new drawing engine someday.

That is indeed inspiring. Running very smoothly even on an old iPhone I tested it with. I will implement something using animated SVG for the 404 and 500 error pages of our webapp.

Apple TV 4K is tiny compared to a Mac Mini, but judging by Geekbench scores (Mac Mini; iPad Pro, which uses the A10X in the Apple TV) it’s a slightly faster computer than even the maxed-out Mac Mini configuration. Apple TV 4K probably has better GPU performance too. In addition to all the performance problems stemming from the fact that the Mac Mini hasn’t been updated in three years, it’s also inarguable that it’s no longer even “mini”. You could arrange four Apple TV units in a 2 × 2 square and they’d take up the same volume as one Mac Mini.

Hadn't thought about that. Would be awesome if it would be possible to run arbitrary software on that little TV box, e.g. use it as a real, powerful (for the size), cheap general purpose personal computer.

We run a small SaaS which basically implements (mobile) Quality Control for the cleaning sector.

Being able to inspect buildings, rooms etc. while one is offline (imagine the cellar of a clinic without proper WiFi) is crucial for our users. So we had to build native iOS and Android apps to support that, duplicating many features of our responsive webapp. Most users still prefer our webapp though (some use the „Add to Homescreen“ feature of iOS for example and use our webapp like a native app anyway). With Service Workers supported on iOS since 11.3 we are currently evaluating if we can finally implement offline support with our webapp. So far it looks good, which for us and our users really would make things a lot easier.

Has anyone here worked with 3.1 as well as Xcode and can say something about the simulator experience of Android Studio?
