I went down that rabbit hole as well, and I also settled on Outline for our business. We haven't widely deployed it yet, but it's been working great during our limited testing. It is sorely missing robust embeds, however!

Same here. I was a customer for a long time and loved the service, but having to watch my “search spend” and constantly going over limits is really annoying. I ended up cancelling but I really wish I didn’t.

Personally I’d like to see an ad-supported, or partially ad-supported version that isn’t evil.

The way Google started out with relevant ads in the sidebar or a single relevant ad at the top is acceptable in my opinion if it means bring the cost way down for the end user and ensuring sustainability for the company.

I don’t think asking users to shell out $10, $20, $30 per month for search is a viable long term model that’ll ever appeal to the masses.

Docker is awesome tech but a terrible company with a terrible business model. I don’t see them surviving long term. Especially with the way they operate and alienate people.

Turns out, speaker tech evolves pretty slowly. I bought a pretty high end set 15 years ago and it’s still miles ahead of most of what’s currently on the market. I don’t expect to change them for another 30 years.

They have LONG way to go before they can prove sustainable in the long run and justify their valuation.

The problem I see with their business model is that the technology has long been commoditized, and alternatives are often better. It's a pretty tough spot to be in.

Anecdotally, I use Colima on my Mac, and it is better than Docker Desktop in pretty much every way I can think of. I'm sure I'm not alone.

Generally, a company like Docker would sell support agreements (ie: how Red Hat does it), but selling support to developers rather than to support core infrastructure/production deployments probably wouldn't work. I hope they can figure it out and succeed.

Many thought Apple was dead when Jobs passed. What Cook did is nothing short of phenomenal. I’d argue he did better than Jobs would have done.

Oh I made a (relative) killing with it too. I was running it 24/7 on multiple computers with bots to simulate activity. The fact that they didn’t realize that no human being can be awake 24/7 baffles me.

I just tried both. I like how Superkey works better (ie: it points to what you're about to click) but it couldn't find a a LOT of text on the screen making it not very useful. I'm not sure if there's an issue on my end or what.

This seems like an easy problem to solve for Apple.

Just sell the iPhone for $30 more, and give people the option to not buy a charger with their phone for a $30 discount. Adds up to the same thing, but instead of paying extra for the charger, you get a discount if you don't take it in the name of "saving the environment".

That was exactly my reaction. Seems like some kind of publicity stunt by both companies.
