My app update was rejected because my Upgrade screen was unable to fetch prices from their servers and instead showed an infinite spinner.

It's probably more worth it than Hacker News. I submitted my new site Cancel Culture Live (cancelculturelive.com) yesterday evening and it was just removed. Months working on a new shiny webapp, it starts getting a few upvotes and traction on HN, only to be removed?

The red X is a vote to cancel and the green check is a vote not to cancel.

Some of your questions aren't easy to answer. Maybe the first two were OK to ask. Others would probably require lawyers and maybe even courts to decide. This is a pretty cool new product just being shared on an online discussion forum. If you are serious about using it for a company, talk to your lawyers, get in touch with Github's people, and maybe hash out these very specific details on the side. Your comment came off as super negative to me.

I'm ready for the downvotes but I don't think the App Store cut is crazy. They do reduce to 15% if you have long-running subscriptions with your user. Credit cards charge 3% to start. Apple handles distribution, updates, etc. Taking 15% at the end of the day isn't terrible. And hey, they made the super shiny beloved iOS platform too in the first place, not to mention the SDK that makes the apps even possible to build!

DHH is just trying to ride cancel culture to get enough people to tweet / complain towards Apple in hopes that they cave.

Not really the same comparison. That human will eventually be able to take care of itself and do a lot more for this world than the dog ever will. Pets don't always make sense, and I tend to agree with parent.

Or maybe Wag should just connect you one-time with someone reliable in your area. It seems stupid to have strangers all the time with your dog. As the top comment mentioned, people used to just get someone reliable nearby, but the tech has eliminated the need for social interaction and communication.

One feature of my app is the PDF creation of invoices and estimates. I use a Java library to make these PDFs. Developing an iOS, web, and Android app that syncs in real-time is much easier (or even possible) when your PDFs are made on the backend.

As a 2+ year user of Firebase, this is long overdue. I built my own cloud function infrastructure using their Java SDK and Digital Ocean and I couldn't have built my app (ProBooks.com) without it. It's good to see Cloud Functions moving from Alpha to Beta!

Airbnb is a joke. Who the hell would actually rent their home out to a complete stranger for a $100 payday one weekend?

Not to mention you can just rent out a single room in your home. Like you want some stranger to temporarily live with you for a day or two and invade your privacy, all for just a few dollars.

The site was clearly meant to look one way yet allow people to run illegal hotels. The only people I've ever heard renting out on Airbnb are ones who buy homes specifically for Airbnb.

Airbnb is everything that is wrong with SV, so disconnected from the real world. I just don't understand who would let totally random strangers from the internet live amongst them or even just their possessions.

Funny, I was thinking the exact opposite after I had been on the site for 10 minutes or so.

It's sad that you get sites making 'slideshows' getting 20 page views per visit for stupid slideshows like 'Celebrities who have had DUIs'. Meanwhile, something educational and informational makes 5% as much as those other guys? Just because I have only loaded the page once?

You can't pay wall it, because then you don't get the 50,000 visits from HN. It sounds like a really tough position to be in.

Actually laying things out in iOS, coming from an Android background, was something I could just not grasp. It was a big driving factor in me going with Ionic, which lets me use flexbox.

A gym I was part of required me to send my plastic barcode / keyfab to a PO Box in order to cancel my subscription. Kind of ridiculous. I'm pretty sure they'd continually charge me and send me to collections if the charges just got denied. Something to think about - canceling contractual subscriptions may require more than just a failed credit card.

The original article claims of an encounter with Satoshi with the police present that mention he handed Bitcoin off. Wouldn't it make sense for Leah to get that officer to go on public record corroborating her story? Or can officers not do that?

SEEKING WORK - Chicago - Remote

I'm an experienced Android developer with several published apps, both for myself and for clients. I'm looking to take on 1, maybe 2 mid-sized projects within the next month. I have an Android designer who can work with me. All my apps follow Google's design guidelines and can be tablet-optimized as well.

If I go to a restaurant with amazing food, and I find that the owner is an asshole, it's completely reasonable to not give them my business anymore. How is it any different with software?
