There was no "deal". It is only proposal. And it would grant no special privileges to either party.

That being said, it is good people are beginning to reorganize in favor of net neutrality and hopefully will make their views known to their Congresspeople.

I don't understand why people equate Google winning or losing with its net neutrality stance. Google has been hugely successful on the net. Surely it would be in their interest to not have net neutrality and to have their traffic favored over competitors, but they're not advocating that. I really don't follow your argument.

It's odd that the tuition rates are the same. I went to a very expensive University and for many majors it made plenty of sense. The school probably could have charged twice as much for computer science because of how many people I knew graduating straight out of undergrad with six figure jobs, but if you're an English major I can't imagine it being worth it.

The article says the stock has to be acquired after March 15, 2010, and before January 1, 2012. How does this play with vesting schedules? Is stock considered "acquired" when granted or when vested?

It'd be good to think about a couple places where you might be able to differentiate by focusing on this particular niche. E.g the ability to add extras to the card such as ribbon. Also, one thing I didn't like about Zazzle was that I can't order just 1 invitation. I'd be nervous about ordering 200 invitations I'd never seen in person and would want a sample first.

Huh? The stock market absolutely has to do with allocating capital. It, together with the bond market, is the place where large companies go when they need to raise funds.

Bond traders and stock traders alike both balance the risk and reward of a company's offering in order to determine a fair value for that offering. Valuing risk and reward is valuing the company and valuing the company is the most critical part of a stock offering. Any post on here about raising money from a VC will talk about the valuation of the startup.

I can't speak to any particulars in this situation. I thought I would add that it's not necessary to know C++ (I don't :o). It is true that there are people who work on projects that are entirely written in C++. However, there's not generally a requirement that applicants write solutions in a particular language and pseudo code is usually fine.

One thing I think is interesting about this article is that it's written by a behavioral economics professor. I probably wouldn't have noticed if I didn't have so many friends who took his class. I think it makes his case stronger and am surprised that fact was not drawn out in the article.

I'm not so sure it'd be that bad. California would get a greater voice in the Senate and thus receive back more of the tax dollars we pay federally (we currently receive far less than we payout with a sizable portion of our funds going to other states). And I have to imagine state politics would be simplified by making the state smaller.

I think you're right that there can be implicit agreements in place such as the agreement to tip your waiter. The waiter example is quite different because you've made an implicit agreement. The point of a contract is to leave nothing implicit.

Also, part of the confusion here is that there is no precedence to say what the societal norm is. Housing prices have never fallen this much before in our society.

I lose sleep over people suggesting it is unethical. That is buying in hook, line, and sinker to the propaganda these companies would like you to believe. Deciding not to service debt is a tactical business decision made every single day. The same companies suggesting it is immoral in order to increase their own profits at the expense of struggling homeowners have all done the same exact thing without anyone ever suggesting it is immoral. You are choosing to exercise a clause of your contract and have every right to do so.

Also, declaring foreclosure is doing a great public service. It helps still inflated housing prices reach affordability. Californians spend more on housing than residents from any other state. If we were able to spend less money on housing it would have a positive impact on quality of living here.
