I like the overall project and goal. I personally would like a way to ask questions to those that are living or have a template that I can use for filling in family history.

Secondly, the home page seems like I am reading a family history page more than talking about the software. It is confusing to me.

This is exactly how it was for me and my family when we lived in Wisconsin. We live in Germany now. Everyone walks to school or bikes - there is community.

I used to colocate a 2U server that I purchased with a local data center. It was a great learning experience for me. Im curious why a company wouldn't colocate their own hardware? Proximity isnt an issue when you can have the datacenter perform physical tasks. Bravo to the comma team regardless. It'll be a great learning experience and make each person on their team better.

I wish there was a Git way of commenting even anonymously (not necessarily without auth). Then a site like this, written with Hugo, could keep all the comments and the moderation/spam could be built in with a GitHub authorization.

I removed myself from beta. I always have iPhone and Android apps stalling on backing up unless the app is open.

Pretty neat test of image recognition. I don't know why but it bothers me to know that everyone everywhere is being watched by something.

I work in PHP each day. I prefer the Yii2 framework and sometimes use Symfony. For some reason I just can't get into Laravel. I tried but the rapid development speed of Yii2 really is the best for my workflow.

I love my Meater+. It definitely changed how I grill or bake food.

On the $300 end though I got a walking treadmill for my standing desk. It is changing my life.

I'm about 2 weeks in and usually avg 5.5 miles a day. Words per minute is still 80 and accuracy hasn't suffered. Worked my way upto 2.6mph. I had to set the office temperature to 66 degrees F though. Worked up a sweat :)

Adapt or leave. Couldn't agree more. Any time I worked somewhere I felt my needs weren't met I tried to work with my managers to fix that. It is different for everyone but you should at least try.

And if it doesn't work for you after trying, quit batching and change your situation.

I realized that the OP can correct these actions himself. If he is in a useless meeting then he should speak up and work towards changing that policy.

If he doesn't have good equipment he could work with management to lobby for better equipment or bring his own there.

Instead of working for 4 hours then "doing whatever" he could make meaningful changes in the organization but he chooses not too.

Maybe it isn't a terrible place to work. Maybe he is a terrible employee.
