There was a lot of shaming of men who were not soldiers. One particularly interesting example of it is The White Feather[1] campaign against men in England during WWI. It was orchestrated by women, including prominent feminists no less.

Perhaps you should move to northern Stockholm suburbs like Rinkeby and Husby where violent riots have become somewhat of a norm. Just a few days ago there was a five hour riot that included torching cars, throwing rocks at the police, looting shops and businesses, beating up journalists. The reason for riot? Police arrested a suspect on a drug charge. Same thing happened last August in the same part of Stockholm. Violent riots and 47 torched cars. Same suburb where more than 100 cars where torched during riots in May 2013.
Was there a single riot like that in Sweden that did not involve immigrants? How about honor killings?
Those are completely new categories of violence for Sweden.
I saw nazis demonstrating in the local town center yesterday, which shocked me.

Of course, but you don't share those papers with us :) I like those kinds of comments a lot. In a good editor it's so easy to just scan a lot of code and understand what's what. You could look at something you or someone else wrote years ago, in different style, different paradigm, different language, ... and still have a perfectly clear picture of what code does in no time.
To each his own I guess.
One of the purposes is to write down what you need to do as comments, and then implement each part. Like pseudo code. Saying you don't have time for it is like saying you don't have time to think through what you're trying to do.

But to generalize that to a total immigration ban based on religion
or even more insane, a travel ban from some arbitrary selection of countries, makes no sense whatsoever.
The ban is not based on a religion, if it was it would apply to 50, not 7 countries. Each of those 7 countries at the moment is riddled with terrorism and or has an active civil war going on. Yes we are talking about islamic terrorism, but the keyword here is the terrorism, not islam. Terrorist organizations active in those countries have made threats to and and already committed terrorist attacks by infiltrating migrant/refugee flows. Given this, why is it entirely unreasonable to temporarily stop immigration from these countries, for 90 days until the new vetting procedures that will attempt to address the terrorism threat are in place? How do you vett people coming from de facto failed countries using normal procedures? Why label someone as stupid, racist, islamophobic, and what not for disagreeing with you on this issue?
The right wing sentiments have been on the rise long before the recent terrorist attacks. Anyone not living in an echo chamber could see it, you don't really need that survey.
To me it seems the idea of democracy and asking people to choose their own government and policy is starting to fall apart by the stupidity and ignorance of people...
I would argue that this kind of reasoning is precisely why many people are turning to the right. Instead of allowing them to voice their concerns and trying to understand them even if you end up disagreeing with them, they are shunned and labeled as stupid, ignorant, racist, sexist, islamophobic, homophobic, etc. Just put anyone you disagree with in the basket of deplorables and call it a day. Job done, right? Well it isn't. And if Brexit and Trump are not strong enough signals, there will be more and stronger.

The longer the high-horsing continues the more the pendulum swings to the right and society becomes more divided and on a path to catastrophic collision. Unfortunately, no lessons have been learned so far. The arrogance continues, and so will the response to it.

In his 2007 interview[2,3] general Wesley Clark spoke about the plan to take out 7 countries in 5 years (Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Iran). Bush went to war with Iraq. Obama ravaged Libya and Syria. Six of those seven countries are on the Trump's visa ban list. At least he has no plans for new wars, for now I guess.

The plane of Bolivian president, flying from Moscow, was grounded in Austria on the on the suspicion of Snowden being on board. The plane was first denied access to airspace of Spain, France, and Italy. Spanish foreign minister Jose Garcia-Margallo, stated publicly on TV that they were told Snowden was on board.
Snowden didn't revoke his passport. He also didn't made three countries close their airspace and land the plane of Bolivian president in the fourth country. There's only one address with power to do that.
You keep repeating "defection to Russia" but it's a well known and officially confirmed fact that US Justice Department revoked his passport during his attempt to fly from Hong Kong to Ecuador (connecting Via Moscow > Cuba > Venezuela). He landed in Moscow with invalid passport, unable to board the next plane.
Literally, the reason he is in Russia is because US government waned him there. Either because they calculated that might discredit him, or to point fingers to Russia, or sheer incompetence, or whatever other reason or reasons. But the fact is, Snowden is in Russia because the US government put him there.
The funny thing is that Tyahnybok is the one that tried to tone down the Parubiy's nazi-like styling. Parubiy was involved in pretty much all neo-nazi and ultra right groups. Social-National Party of Ukraine, Patriot of Ukraine, Svoboda, various paramilitary units, etc.
Seeing swastikas everywhere is an important part of the approach, I guess.
That's a nice way to dismiss it, but it doesn't help the fact that they went to a great length to emulate the nazi branding. The name of the party, lovely evening torchlight parades [1], and even the decorations at speaking events [2].

The guy founded Social-National Party of Ukraine together with Oleh Tyahnybok. There's nothing "nazi" about them, they are nazi and they're not trying to hide it at all. Look at the logo of the party they founded, look at the Azov Battalion insignia.
Parubiy first became the head of Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council mostly managing paramilitary units and now he is the chairman of the Ukrainian parliament. Tyahnybok made it to the top list of antisemites, published by the Simon Wiesenthal Center.
Journalist in Kiev are being killed on a regular basis. Alexander Shchetinin was found shot dead in his apartment today. A month ago car bomb killed Pavel Sheremet.
Russian trolls are the least of your problems.
