Any URL off localweb.is has a geographic boundary of about 2 miles. So you can go to localweb.is/warhammer and post about warhammer, but only others within range can see and reply.

Why on earth would we do this? Because we think the local space fundamentally sucks.. and its too hard to find others in the area with the same interests.. and no one needs yet another app.. and we love the web.

The "front page" of the local web, localweb.is is a list of the urls people have created in the area sorted by activity... basically, whats trending within walking distance.

If you are in SF or Boston, you might see something on the front page, if not, you are likely the first person to view the local web in your 2 mile radius.

Any problem involving network effects is hard to pull off with small or medium services.

I wish there was a gmail plugin that would make the users email publicly accessible, but read only. This would clearly test their "I have nothing to hide" argument.

Parking signs are the worst. This designers improvements are clearer though the type size is much smaller. Sometimes you can only see the parking signs as you are driving by looking for a space. Its not much help if you have to park your car, then read the sign.

accei guess the biggest problem is that a long pass phrase would tend to logical phrases like 'willyoumarrymeedward' where as user name and passwords rarely form a logical phrase. So guessing at valid passphrases would be easier to do

changing news letter providers is a high hurdle for people. The fact that it is "free" doesn't matter, since its such a pain to setup and run campaigns.

I would buy google ads on newsletter related keywords so you know you are getting people looking for a solution to try.
