Presumably it would need to be trained with good examples of solutions to complex problems. Maybe there just won't be that many for the foreseeable future.
My wife gave birth last year in California, and immediately upon returning home, we located the paperwork for requesting the DNA be destroyed and submitted it. We received a response telling us that our request was received, but that's all. Unfortunately neither of us can remember where to find the form we needed to send it to request it be destroyed. Maybe it was in the hospital paperwork?
The difference I'm specifically curious about is the issue about 'downloading' arbitrary code and evaluating it. Current app offerings don't have this support because Apple has forbidden it in the past unless the evaluation goes through the Javascript context of a web view, which doesn't appear to be the case for PencilCase. I guess I'm curious if they have relaxed their restrictions in this case, are unaware of that feature, or something else.
Question for the developers: It looks like the iOS app allows you to download apps built with the desktop tool, which supports evaluation of Javascript snippets. Isn't this against the App Store policy for the download and execution of arbitrary code?
Depends on what you mean by 'Hotspot'. Both of Sun's embedded JVMs (CDC, CLDC) had 'Hotspot' implementations. Both of these implementations performed many of these types of optimizations (which I can say with certainty because I wrote many of them). I'm no Dalvik expert, but there really isn't any reason why it shouldn't be able to do similar optimizations. Remember that the CDC and CLDC Hotspot implementations were originally developed for hardware of the early 2000s.

Here's one datapoint: I have 652,082 images in my account, and have downloaded my entire library a number of times using different 3rd party utilities. Haven't ever had an issue.
I've been playing with visual (screenshot-based) readers for a few years now, with my most recent effort being 'Percolater', a visual reader for the iPad. When demoing Percolater to current iPad users that are used to 'intelligent' content re-arrangers like Flipboard, Pulse, and hn.embed.ly, the people that tend to prefer a screenshot representation tend to be those that are more on the design end of the spectrum. There is a tremendous amount of context contained within the layout of a given page, and we've become very good at determining the likelihood that a page will be worth reading purely based on layout cues. Snapshots have the ability to further allow us to pre-filter what's important. There are a great many people that feel that ad removal is unequivocally a good thing, and for them, pulling out some text and an image and shoving it in a box is perfectly suitable for their browsing needs. I don't happen to be one of those people, hence the thing I've made.
I'm curious about how these classifications were done. I graduated from the MIT Media Lab a few years back, and after looking through the result set titled:
"A small community of users associated with MIT Media lab detected using the algorithm after 7th iteration"
I saw a handful of MIT undergrads listed, many of which I'm certain had no affiliation with the Media lab, while nearly all of the others I do not recognize, even as an active Twitter user. I chose two random entries from this list: 'RFheargaile' and 'realduedate', and found both to be of extremely dubious authenticity.
This is absolutely a wonderful project, from a very talented member of the demoscene. However, "for the first time ever" isn't entirely accurate. Web-based visual experimentation environments for 2d/3d programming have existed for years, from the Flash-based (wonderfl.net), to Java, to (many) based on processing.js. Being shader-based, I'd say this is actually less accessible to kids, unless you're just teaching them that moving sliders and changing parameters is 'programming'.
Now Google is requiring users to verify new gmail accounts with a text message sent to a mobile phone. I can only assume that it will soon be prohibitively difficult to create fake email addresses to use to create other fake accounts. I fear that anonymity will likely die soon, whether we like it or not.
