Yeah, enough people say this that I avoid taking creatine knowing I have the genetic predisposition for male pattern baldness, despite the lack of solid evidence.

Although OP's post says "There is no mechanistic reason to think that would happen." but I don't think that's true. Creatine is known to increase DHT, and higher levels of DHT is linked to hair loss.

Interesting that everybody knows when AWS goes down but Azure needs a "Tell HN" :)

Best of luck to the teams responding to this incident.

Part time work is possible.

I initially dropped to 4 days/week in lieu of a payrise (comp remained the same). Did that for a while and since then I've been working 2-4 days/week (3 right now)

It helped that it was a small company and I had been working there for 5+ years, not sure how I'd go about finding a part time software job otherwise. Everything is negotiable though.

You've got to have at least some amount of drive beyond "clock in at 9 and leave at 5 sharp to collect a paycheck" to get into these top tech companies.

I can't say how true this is or not, but I know there are plenty that _want_ to get in exactly so they can clock in & out without doing much

I mean it's relatively simple still, mainly book tracking/collecting/reviewing with a slick UI & activity feed. But we have a lot of plans and fostering something more meaningful than clicking a heart button is pretty important to us. Personal (1-1) recommendations could be a good example of that, wouldn't you want to put your friend onto their new favourite book?

Side projects are slow going though so we do what we can, prioritization can be rough!

Younger but presumably in worse health. Don't think it's a straightfoward comparison.

Hi, author here!

Would love to have a public API for readng but don't want supporting it slowing us down when we need to change something. It's just the three of us in our spare time at the moment, so we need the agility!

I really, really like that use case too! Right now all you could do would be to create a collection of books on your profile, but would be nice to have on the book page I think.

Could I send readers to their choice of bookseller?

We would like to refer people to libraries and indies, but these are obviously fragmented so a bit difficult. I think allowing authors to set a preferred book seller probably makes sense.

Whilst people are wishing for a better book logging system, please allow me to politely plug what I'm working on: https://beta.readng.co

We're just getting started, but we're planning on tackling some of the pain points mentioned in the article

Hi, I'm building this! Thanks for sharing.

It's pretty basic right at the moment and we've a lot left to build (largely a reading list only, we've got more in the works) – but here's my profile as a preview, since our marketing site & messaging needs a bit of work: https://beta.readng.co/user/joe
