"Game Programming Patterns" has been of huge help throughout my career and it's always my go to recommendation for new game programmers and reading your comment makes me feel even more grateful that you made the effort of writing it, thanks for writing such a great book!

Good post!

I specially liked the "Why should people bother playing the game I make?" part. I keep making myself this question over and over again, and your answer really clicked with me.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one, the whole concept looks really interesting, but for a walkthrough, the Cat.random thing is kind of confusing.

Sorry, that blog it is not mine, I just stumbled upon the post and thought it was interesting, didn't know it wasn't the original source.

This is really bad news for latin american developers, as far as I know, Argentina was one of the few latin american countries that were able to sell in the Play Store and now it's gone. It kind of kills my hope that they may eventually give support to my country.

I know I can establish an LLC in US to fix this, but it is something that we would rather not to do. It is kind of a bummer that Google makes it so difficult to do business in certain countries.

I agree with you, I'm not saying that the video can be low quality because it doesn't matter, just that the content is far more important to them, but yeah, I think is better if you have a proper camera and mic. Wouldn't leave a nice impression if someone submit a video shooted with their phone.

This is exactly how I feel, Im in Guatemala, where we don't have much access to VC funds either.

A year has passed since we started, and we still don't have a steady income, but it is worth it, totally worth it, when I realize that I am doing exactly what I want to do, even if the odds are against me, I know I have to keep trying.

Thanks for sharing the list of all the games, and especially thanks for putting us on the 16th, we have received a lot of feedback since the contest launch and would love to hear yours, we are implementing several changes in the game play, it'll become faster and will have more levels in a few weeks.

Also we are preparing the lunch for the android version :)

Thanks for the reference, I'm going to pass it to them, and yeah, there is still plenty of room in the AR worlds, but they are really dissapointed with this as they were pitching their game as "A minecraft but in the real world".

They are now looking for an alternative, I hope they find one.

Thanks for mentioning the book, after reading your comment I looked for the book, and it looks pretty good, probably the next book I'm going to buy. Thanks!

I thought the same thing, but also, the "research" label could be just a safety net in case it doesn't turn out very well.
