I've prototype on a collab notebook and have been using AWS GPUs for training. Having to jump through hoops for quota and the general anxiety in trying to optimize the costs led me to just build a machine with a 1-time upfront cost. As a sole proprietor, I can write off the capex against future revenue anyways and depreciate it.

Dope, 7 days is a pretty nice turnaround. I went with a 'custom' prebuilt so I could plan for adding additional cards once they're well supplied. You might run into trouble with the PSU, case clearance and mobo throughput if you plan on adding another 3-slot 3090 - those are all sub-1k though so you can always swap once you need to!

I just went this route to build a ML workstation. I was able to get a prebuilt with a 3090 for ~30% of a comparable build on https://lambdalabs.com/.

Now I just need to wait until next year to get the second 3090. I considered waiting for the new A4000s to launch to see if they'd have better inventory but figured 3090s have additional value as a gaming gpu.

I'd be curious how professional ML folks are fairing and what they're using -- it's not too late to cancel my build.

The stock is counted as income when it is exercised. The basis is the strike price then, once you sell later it’s considered either capital gain or loss. My understanding is that you can only apply 3000 in capital loses to income tax liability.

You can purchase real time data streams for relatively cheap (200/month) from many companies, even exchanges themselves.

I’m actually building something similar for my own options trading and was eventually going to spin it into a SaaS.

I went to a FAANG interview today without preparing and was asked 7 leetcoding problems across 5 interviews. Even the behavioral one included a leetcode problem.

Most interviewers seemed to give an easy problem followed by a medium/hard. I think I succeeded, purely based on years of doing leetcode in the past and having a job at another FAANG-like.

I see tipping as a form of profit sharing. If a server or barista gets more volume for the restaurant, they get a cut. Often times, servers leave at the end of the night with $200+. I used to be a valet and was paid $5/hour but would make easily over $100 in tips.

From that link:

You made an agreement with John Peters to care for your lawn. John runs a lawn care business and offers his services to the general public. He provides his own tools and supplies, and he hires and pays any helpers he needs. Neither John nor his helpers are your household employees.

In this comparison, a driver partner offers their services to multiple marketplaces, provides his own supplies, etc.

I’m genuinely concerned that people seriously think this is a _solution_.

Beyond sex, relationships with romantic partners are a complex, rewarding part of the human experience. How did that get lost to some?

That study had roughly 3k participants, from the Boston area. In my opinion, the are more than probably many factors that influence testosterone production and that’s not sufficient evidence to declare a population-wide crisis.

The expenses are mostly in marketing to grow their market share- they won't market themselves into the grave.

I think Amazon is the only company where values actually created a culture.

Having worked in the EC2 org, the people doing the customer service tickets were usually the oncall, when nothing was on fire, or the daytime SREs. You could get hit-or-miss depending on whom is oncall and picks up your ticket, some people were non-empathic and would reply to those tickets with one word answers or you'd get lucky with people that would dig deep.
