The FAA still requires ashtrays in bathrooms interestingly. To avoid those who do smoke there using the trash and causing a fire:

Regardless of whether smoking is allowed in any other part of the airplane, lavatories must have self-contained, removable ashtrays located conspicuously on or near the entry side of each lavatory door, except that one ashtray may serve more than one lavatory door if the ashtray can be seen readily from the cabin side of each lavatory served

What are the black dots around the map when you zoom in? For instance South-East Wales / Bristol, I see a few black dots that look like they cover shaded areas or something. They also show up at the sites for wind farms, possibly they're the turbines themselves?

No, because db is logarithmic. That's the key property that allows you to do addition instead of multiplication. Remember these are ratios here as well.

So the original example in linear units would be: We're reducing the signal by 63% in the this cable, and the gain through this amp is 199.5%, so the output is...

0.63 * 1.995 = 1.26

126% which is 20log10(1.26) db or around 2db.

-4 + 6 = 2 is a little easier to do.

I don't think it is. PWM_BIAS is used as the select for the analog switch. High connects COM to B1 (GND) and low connects COM to B0 (BRIDGE_SUPPLY).
