explores the challenges and considerations of integrating AI tools into human workflows, particularly in engineering and operations contexts.

I found it to be an interesting read.

I was watching an interview with Yayo and I didn’t realize until then that even a friendly greeting with someone that had beef with your in-group was considered a deep betrayal.

Yeah I think the point is that if you are using it as a sales channel then you should measure it closely because it probably isn't doing as well as you think. Social media is just an extension of customer support in its most effective use case. You can see Lucidchart responds to customer questions via twitter for example.

ditto. There are huge problems in filtering authority with such a massive source of real-time information that is so easily gamed. The barrier to tweeting a link is magnitudes easier than putting up a new webpage. I would argue that the only real value they are getting currently is rel="author" information with plans for giving value to other signals later. I really think the SEO hype about social media is an extension of the hype the article talks about.

If there were any compelling counterexamples, they would already be touting them already. Glad someone is calling out the emperor for wearing no clothes. Hope this idea gets traction.

Price change is not fundamental to economics. It is fundamental to a post-Fed inflationary policy that seeks for a low (or at least a consistent) unemployment rate. That being said I think this is a great case study of "menu costs" on steriods.

My skills are a little rough and this is probably more than a company can devote to a browser war study but it would be interesting to see this benchmark run multiple times or as a Monte Carlo simulation.

Also - does anyone know what core runs at 50% in IE even when the user is idle? Not surprised to hear it but curious if anyone knows what it is.

How is this news?

1. This post is from 2011 2. Google ended the ability to link sculpt a long time ago.

I would be interested in studies showing cases where link sculpting still worked.

Typing is always going to be faster than clicking around in an interface. Take the time to learn it. There was a time when command line was also for "mere mortals". What moved us away from that? Windows. Something to think about.

decent article but I think you set up a straw man of "unlike most parents". I don't know of anyone that has ever called the professor of their kid complaining about the grade their kid got. I guess I will chalk it up to another benefit of being raised in the midwest. IMO if you don't teach your kids the basics of cooking and car maintenance you are fail. ;)
