Jon Larsen, a Norwegian jazz musician and creator of Project Stardust, was able to show that it is possible to find micrometeorites in more populated areas. In a study published in January 2017 in the journal Geology, he and his colleagues catalogued more than 500 lustrous micrometeorites (and counting), all recovered from rooftops in urban areas.

Same here. New tab > open home page > scan my iGoogle feeds has been a very frequent and almost automatic habit of mine for years. When it redirected me to a search page it took a good second or two for me to realise what was going on.

I'm no expert but it strikes me that the shadowless full-light exposures that he talks about are the real challenge here and maybe that sets it apart from other popular examples.
