Have you looked at using virtual replicas (https://www.algolia.com/doc/guides/managing-results/refine-r...) at all? They don't increase the number of records as they use the same underlying data.
Hey everyone! I work at Algolia and we've heard feedback from the HN community and have made some changes recently that provides 100x more records for free so that you can use larger data sets. We have also made it so that all of the core platform functionality is available in the new free plan (we call it the "Build" plan now) so that you can fully evaluate and use everything before ever having to pull out a credit card.
Would love to hear any thoughts on these changes as well as any other things we might do to help you power great search experiences.

Would really love to be able to run Windows natively on the M2. Anyone running Windows as their daily driver on an M2 via emulation? How does that experience compare to macOS on the M2?

Stops working for me after level 1. Repro: 1. https://lab.reaal.me/jsrobot and click "start" 2. Complete the level and click "next level" 3. This takes me to https://lab.reaal.me/jsrobot/#level=2 but the screen is blank 4. Dev tools shows this: "ReferenceError: URLcode is not defined[Learn More] ui.js:32:5"

Wow the comment thread on the original MSFT blog post (direct link: https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/enterprisemobility/2017/...) is just painful. It's mostly a collection of people who use Windows on their phone crying out about the lack of support for Windows.
Microsoft won't support their own platform (phone) with this. If that's the case then why would any other developer write apps for Windows? Also, I thought the big push was for Universal Windows Platform (UWP) apps that ran on mobile, desktop/tablet, and Xbox. I can understand that you may not want to write a custom app for a platform with tiny market share but "big" Windows still has a lot of share.
This is a great example of how to erode trust.
Python isn't installed by default on Windows. So this makes it easier.

Very interesting project. Was excited to try this but the quality of the tracking is not there yet. The face detection was off most of the time unless I positioned my camera just right. Then the eye tracking was no good. But they are only using a webcam and doing this right (see http://www.tobii.com/xperience/) requires multiple IR emitters and an IR camera.
Sounds like a bit of a "pipe" dream

Yes Kinect has an array of 4 mics and can do audio beam forming. Plus there's a terrific SDK for Windows.

If your data is/can be public then you can use Tableau Public for free.
Cool to see another company in the AR space! However, their videos that say "actual footage" make the holograms look jumpy and the worry is that could lead to fatigue or nausea. Has anyone tried one of these?

That's unfortunate for anyone who was using the API. Not cool to just shut it off like that. However it seems Venmo has realized they are an app and not a platform.
Very interesting article. Makes me think this is a tendency that we should all look for in ourselves since it could be we start pushing harder to maintain our new 'status' of winning.
It also seems a bit sad that we tend to get so wrapped up in our successes that we will start cheating to maintain our new self identity.

Why only 50% of the ad spend? I think the article makes the case that all ad spend is moving to digital. Probably not ever reaching 100% but a lot closer to 100 than to 50.
