I’d like to see all social media sites require proper age verification, much like any gambling sites in the UK have to. No under 18 needs social media. Feel, especially for children, they are a net negative.

macOS for me. Zipping up and down a buffer is noticeably faster (drawing/render wise) in the latest Kitty compared to WezTerm. Using 2019 Intel MBP

I really wish they would bundle up the basic Language Servers with the download (HTML, CSS, TypeScript) so it at least has parity with VSCode in this regard

You can achieve that with grid right now. Set a row to height zero, with a container inside with overflow: hidden, then toggle that row to height 1fr. Stick whatever transition you want on it — job done

My eye was drawn to the adaptive Android one first and couldn’t figure out why there was a clock in the middle.

Took my brain a moment to realise it was supposed to be an envelope. Now I’ve seen the clock on that one, I can’t unsee it

I find the dev tools/Web Inspector in Safari incredibly flakey. Just trying to autocomplete a selector in the CSS styles pane often mangles the string and doesn’t autocomplete properties correctly. Hope that Web Inspector gets some significant improvements soon

You clearly don’t have a clue what you are talking about.

I have a child clinically diagnosed with ADHD. It’s absolutely nothing to do with time spent with him. We have stable family home, active life style. etc

He just has a brain that works differently. Not worse. Different. He might struggle to pay attention at school but he’s written two novels!

PS. Religion is horse shit so if that’s the only other thing you have left for me to help him, I’ll take my chances, thanks

What is the reality here? If a company adds MDM software to a laptop they have given you for work and you use it at home on your home network. Is it easy enough for them (in theory) to get on to the network and look on your kids or partners devices?

Or is that tin hat thinking?

If you have a 5K2K monitor, as I do, then you are unable to enjoy decent 1.25 scaling. Everything looks pixelated because Apple don’t allow a ‘proper’ HiDPI mode with M1s.

The same monitor is absolutely fine on a 2019 Macbook Pro.

If you use BetterDummy, it creates a ‘fake’ display to mirror to. The result is beautifully clear display on the 5K2K.

This is the crux of the issue. M1 macs can absolutely do nice 1.25 scaling on a 5120*2160 display to give crisp text in the 140dpi range but they disable it.

That is the issue IMHO.

Where has the ability to press the ‘/‘ key for instant search gone?????

I was astonished at the length of that article as I kept reading and thinking the same, ‘isn’t this what he just said before???’ I’m happy to read long-form but I feel that piece would have benefited greatly from substantial editing

My blog has been on Wordpress since about 2007.

It works, and I appreciate that it’s free but I’ve always hated working with it.

If someone made a node based equivalent (so I can at least use a modern templating language) that supported comments I would be all over it.

The commenting system is the only real reason I stay. There’s nothing else I can find that doesn’t necessitate stitching multiple services together just to get commenting that I can find.

And as for being able to spin up a local dev version for casual edits — horrid DX! I wonder whether a big reason social media has stolen our online interactions over the years is because there are few (no?) blogging platforms that support comments?!

Even taking performance out of the equation, ‘Go to Symbol in Project’ more than makes up for anything VSCode has. I’m amazed VSCode still doesn’t have that

If you want the same language treatment as say, VS Code, install the LSP plugin. It is the exact same thing

Here’s the discord server https://discord.gg/D43Pecu

I agree it’s not straightforward to know it exists but that’s probably the point. Once you do know I literally just googled ‘Sublime Text Discord’ and it was the first result. Look in the #announcement channel there. Been using v4 builds for months. Love it so much I’m recording a course on it!

Amazing, like MagSafe again. I'm thinking that may be the way forward to avoid a KVM.

With TB — can you literally just unplug from one Laptop/PC and connect to another and everything is back up and running on the 2nd computer?
