I’m a Product-minded Fullstack Engineer, currently focusing on Generative AI / LLM integrations (agents, evals, etc.). ~5 YoE in designing and implementing web products from requirements gathering to deploy, from bootstrap to production. I am a generalist who loves spacing between techs, roles and activities. Looking for startups or medium-tech companies to expand my area of impact through more meaningful projects.HN user

I wasn't fun of the Funding Eng role for the same reasons, however I reconsidered it as a way to learn and position myself better at a lower risk compared to just start my own business.
as for your self-marketing, you just need to go on LinkedIn and start messaging people or find interesting founders, go to their websites, and send them an email. worst case they don't respond, who cares?
that's good stuff, should try. Thank you
I agree: I stopped, as long as my company allows it, to jump between small projects and different technologies. Instead I'm trying to take care and ownership of a larger project
that's an interesting point. If I got it correctly it means to translate my previous impact in terms of metrics. Not an easy thing to do in non-product companies, but surely something to give it a try. Thanks
I'm having the same thoughts. It's okay to have a couple of small side projects on the resume (I do), but for showing off real skills you would need a complete product which basically means starting your own business, at least in terms of time and effort
do you mean a side project?
Why aren't you creating a new business rather than waiting to tag along with someone else's?
To gain more experience, reaching a better positioning, improve networking and create a money safe net. I see your point BTW

My big brain expected startup stuff
I prefer paper when I need to reason deeply, with drafts and schemes. Once my thoughts on paper mean something, I organize them digitally.
Silicon Valley might have started in Italy with Olivetti, but political issues and unfortunate events stopped it from happening. There's a great podcast about it (Italian): https://podcast.ilsole24ore.com/serie/olivetti-occasione-per...

I'm a product-minded SWE looking for a career move to work on more impactful projects with more challenging requirements. I am specialized in Fullstack development for scale-ups and large enterprise and have DevOps additional experience. I am currently responsible to facilitate the adoption of AI tools within my company and working of AI-related delivery projects. I am mostly interested in joining a startup or scaleup.
Instead of thinking about codegen as a replacement for a developer, what if we thought about it as an extension?
Who would think otherwise? It seemed pretty clear from the beginning that anything that automatically generates code would act as an assistant rather than a replacement
EDIT: Formatting
Hi, thanks for pointing it out. I know for sure HN is the right place and I already used the "Show HN" format in the past. Unfortunately, it is the only place I know: I am more interested in knowing some others or maybe this use-case specific communities
I find myself in this description since forever, but I still can't figure out how to really take advantage of it: it's not always possible to behave like this in your daily job and in your personal life you typically spend a lot of mental energy to understand what to do instead of doing. I fear to end up with a lot of skills and potential unused.
It also reminds me of the Scanner people introduced by Barbara Sher in her book https://www.amazon.com/Refuse-Choose-Interests-Passions-Hobb...
My simple uses cases:
- Write repetitive stuff across any application, eg. my email is pretty long, so I expand it with a short ':e' trigger)
- Expand boring code, eg. functional programming functions to snap into pipelines
- Drop emojis here and there (https://hub.espanso.org/all-emojis)
- Write accented letters not available on the keyboard (I use a US keyboard, but I need to write Italian on a daily basis)
- Drop lorem ipsum paragraphs
With some setup, the config is synced between my personal and work Macbooks. I think I will also use it for email templating soon.Location: Italy
