I'm using Xymon ( example: https://www.xymon.com/servers/servers.html ). I found it didn't take much work to add a client to the monitor and the default set of reports was enough.

There's supposed to be an OSX client, but I haven't used it.

One day I got a cheap-ish NAS then used beets [1] to organise and copy all the music on my computer to it, listening to it with Banshee[2] over the network.

Then I got Spotify and don't bother much with it anymore...

I'm actively trying not to spend too much time reading other people's opinions on the internet these days, it's such a time sink and you do come away with such a negative opinion of the world.

But I'll go through the comments if it's a subject I'm interested in and the comments are constructive or add to the original link. Often I've noticed a pattern where the largest discussions start with a comment along the lines of "This article is wrong because ..." and the reply "<quote from above comment> No, it's not because ...". That's a sign to just close the tab.

I use "Adblock Edge" as an alternative. It's basically a fork of adblock plus but without the "acceptable ads" feature.

Seems decent. Thoughts:

* Lose the background image. A plain background is fine.

* "You have punched out for the day". Okay? But it's a button, do I press it? What do I do with it?

* Consider not using the term "Stuff", "Company Stuff" -> "Company", "My Stuff" -> "My Attendance"

* Things like attendance tables could probably be more "graphic" rather than boring tables of "Present" or "Not present". Think about coloured squares to indicate attendance or icons.

Maybe it's just me, but the requestAnimationFrame code fails in Firefox unless they're all prefixed with 'window.'

It probably works straight away in Chrome because requestAnimationFrame is defined.

I assume they're sorted by the number of downloads from the Python packaging index (PyPI).

Tornado might be one of those packages people install from their distro's package or download from the parent website rather than via PyPi.

As for the background ... <shrugs>

Presumably he's referring to the plethora of comments below from accounts created within the last hour whose only comment is a one or two word praise for this submission.

It smells of sock-puppetry, but odd considering this is exactly the submission that would appeal to this audience.
