The cool thing isn't so much os9map (yes it's cool) , but the fact that the data wasn't locked behind some wall and they were able to do whatever they wanted with it. There are a lot of cool ideas out there that are thwarted because the data is just locked away behind something only a very limited web gui can access, and you are at the mercy of people who's greatest ideas are ways to make the most horrible money extracting experience they can.

The analogy, not the 1 to 1 translation, is that the architects come up with the ideas and pass them off to the workers to implement.

The analogy I was thinking of as I read this was: an architect that designs a beautiful building as opposed to the workers that take that design and then follow building codes to frame the house, or install the electrical.

The Vibe Coder is the one building prototypes to flesh out ideas, and once they flushed out the idea, they hand if off to the workers to follow standards to implement.

Although at the end of the article he does say that people should fall into both vibe/eng. and that is probably a good place to be to stay relevant in the future.

So the white house likes to do a lot of things they don't actually have authority to do, so the next question is if they don't have the authority to do this, can Anthropic sue for damages for not only tokens people were not able to spend, but also market share lost to the setback?

when someone says they have tried previously that makes me think once long ago when they first came out. If your employment could be replaced by this, I'd be testing all new models to see where they stand.

Just because you don't want to use AI/LLM to translate, that won't stop someone else who will, and they will end up doing it cheaper and faster (maybe not better, but most people don't really care about quality too much anymore.)

The point of the comment was that models are improving a lot every release, so if your livelihood depends on something, you might want to check to see what the latest models are capable of before someone else (like your employer ) tells you.

This got me thinking on a new way to improve the news: Instead of reporting on the empty words people say, only report on what they have done, example:

b) SpaceX, run by Elon Musk, is currently Making $X per quarter, they do this by ......

a billion new applications written by 2029

So we will have a billion new hello world, stock checker, Calendar, Todo apps, and ...? Just because you have a way to write code fast, doesn't mean you are going to come up with billions of new ideas of what to do with that code, and to be mean about it, most people don't think they are creative enough to come up with ideas and are just fine watching sports all day on tv.

The apple app store currently has 2,362,917 (https://42matters.com/ios-apple-app-store-statistics-and-tre...) apps in the app store, and a lot of those are the same thing, so 0.236% of a billion.

but to be fair, with Cluade I've written at least 10 apps I use every day. If everyone in the world (8.3 billion people) would do this, then we might get close to that billion new apps.

a) listen to a useless podcast of two people blathering on about nothing.

b) come up with an idea, and have a coding agent start implementing it; maybe go back and forth on how to improve it.

seems like b is a better use of time.

or c) just stare into the void and let your thoughts consume you; this is my favorite, I don't like listening to stuff when I drive.
