Side note, all fusion start ups have built upon decades of science research funded in the ITER program, so opposing ITER to fusion start ups is misleading

Not sure how hacker news can effectively protect against what looks like fake users posting LLM generated comments :(

My brother (a history book worm) writes on geopolitics as a hobby.

He wrote a comprehensive analysis in French on how Greenland will be the tipping point for NATO, the European Union and even Democracy in the USA

I found it very well articulated on the stakes and chain of consequences, so I asked him to translate it in English so I could share it here, thinking it could interest many

Hello!

I shared almost 3 years ago this website made by the father of a friend that uses free satellite data to showcase the earth near realtime, using algorithms he crafted to assemble and color correct everything together (see original post https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=29851399)

Since then he improved a lot his software, taking advantage of new satellites, new color wave length, and taking the challenge to map it all on a 3D earth globe (compared to flat earth surfaces previously), see https://earth2day.com/TheWall/Movies/The5/THELIVINGPLANET.ht...

Sometimes you can (unfortunately) see there the planet scale events that faces us, like huricanes that come onto the shore or wildfires so huge the smoke plumes goes over entire continents ... see the gallery of events here https://earth2day.com/TheWall/Gallery/gallery.html

So here I share it back, do not hesitate to provide him feedback here.

Or with a 4k colored flat view of our home planet https://earth2day.com/TheWall/Movies/THEWALL4K.html

Swift 6 2 years ago

Explained to a layman, how nice is this release? Is more platforms support gonna make Swift a first class langage?

Happy owner for 4 years of a Garmin Fenix 5.

I wear it everyday and it has happily survived many water sports including a lot of surfing sessions. Practical, no bullshit (I don't want most of "smart" watch features, I have my phone for that), long battery life (I can record several day hike or full ski days without needing a recharge) and quite resistant (I took the Sapphire + Titanium version).

Only thing that could make me take a new Garmin model would be glucose tracking.
