This is cool. Though I don't see why someone would want to do more work/design for the custom GUI rendering for a custom/renderer (your viewer app) ?
Looks cool! Reminded me of ironcalc - rust based project that aims to have full excel parity. Linking it in case you might want to reuse/contribute to that engine.

Maybe a dumb question but what constitutes user-hosted-content?
Is a notion page, github repo, or google doc that has user submitted content that can be publicly shared also user-hosted?
IMO Google should not be able to use definitive language "Dangerous website" if its automated process is not definitive/accurate. A false flag can erode customer trust.
I've used pywebview in the past ~2017. Works well.
This saved me. I was able to push image from one of my nodes. Thank you.
I've been putting off a self-hosted observability setup for a long time. Any recommendations on basis ease of setup and operation? (For something low-medium scale).
My ideal setup would be to just write SQL on telemetry data and plot dashboards / set alerts.
Also, thoughts on Vector vs otel agent?
Incredibly cool! It shows running Ubuntu and Postgres, and also supports full posix operations.
Questions:
- I see there is a diagram running multiple Postgres nodes backed by this store, very similar to horizontally distributed web-server. Doesn't Postgres use WAL replication? Or is it disabled and they are they running on same "views" of the filesystem?
- What does this mean for services that handle geo-distribution on app layer? e.g. CockroachDB?
Sorry if this sounds dumb.
Why not use the Gemini flash voice-api directly instead? Cost? I ask because from the demo, the tutor's voice seems mechanical. I've played with the gemini voice api and it's quite impressive for conversation with low latency, I'd say perfect for your use case. It even switches languages if I say "Okay, let's talk in $foo language".
The vocabulary tooling looks neat and well thought out.
Nice. I see you're using tip-tap editor for the card content. Is it performant enough when you have a bunch of cards on the board? Does the new tab load quick if the board is decent sized?
Freezing for me on Safari desktop. I think the culprit is the SVG based demo in the README.md
I'm in search of something simple like this.
I tried the demo at https://kan.bn/kan/roadmap but clicking on the card shows the skeleton placeholder, doesn't seem to load the card content.
What do you mean?
Hope that all makes sense?
Yes! Looking forward to using Overtone.
Neat to ship dev-tools alongside, looks like you've been dog-fooding this library for quite some time.
What are your thoughts on:
- Handling compaction for long lived apps/pages?
- IMO events are nice, but also require discipline and good design w.r.t code (Thinking of how application layer evolves over time, possibility of maintaining code for older client versions and/or schema migrations.
- Overtone looks sick. I've been using Spotify less and less because of janky UI and constant UI changes, would love a replacement. I see that it supports multiple sources, will it offer offline playback?
The link in title is my space/document, I'll be around for a few hours there.
If you want to create one of your own space to play around. Then go to oorja.io -> create your first space -> choose "try without signup". Then in the space add the Sparkpad app.
What are the typical payload sizes in your WebSocket messages? Could you share the median and p99 values?
I've also discovered similar networking issues in my own application while traveling. For example, in Vietnam right now, I was facing recurring issues like long connection establishment times and loss of responsiveness mid-operation. I thought I was losing my mind - I even configured Caddy to not use HTTP3/QUIC (some networks don't like UDP).
I moved some chunkier messages in my app to HTTP requests, and it has become much more stable (though still iffy at times).
I don't think this would be good UX. Maybe when you've already typed ~20 chars or so. If it was so good at prediction from first keystroke, it'd had that info you're asking in the previous response. It could also work for short commands like "expand", "make it concise", but I can also see it being distracting for incorrect prediction.
Typing messages in these chat apps quickly becomes tedious and autocompletions help a lot with this.
If you're on Mac, you can use dictation. focus text-input, double-tap control key and just speak.
It'd be better to link the vscode extension and a quick demo.
I skimmed through the website, and the only interaction is to join the beta, view a video which is 15mins (too long).
Consider posting what your app does. You've got good about section on the plugin page, why not mention it here?
Hey designers! Ever wish you could grab those stunning UI screens you find online and make them instantly editable?
With Nudge, now you can. We’ve taken the hassle out of design inspiration and turned it into a tool you can actually work with. Think editable, customizable, and ready to roll – straight into your Figma projects.
It saves time for people who are surfing by, and tells them what problem you're solving, engaging a discussion (vs. just posting here as a launch).
Good job on building and putting it out there! I'm not a designer, but it looks incredibly helpful/time saving. In the video it seems I can just click on App store screenshots -> import and play with them in Figma? How does it manage assets/fonts?

Regarding ssh-apps, this seems super duper niche to me even for developers. Like, I get that many devs are terminal savvy, and it's cool that it's possible to serve apps like this but is it practical (to pick for your new product /internal app)?
Imagine a restaurant offering free samples or complimentary dishes to their customers. It helps in product discovery, and indirectly in adoption of other products that they pay for.
Then a person comes in starts gobbling every sample, because they believe "free tiers are meant to be abused".
- The page breaks my browser's back button (Firefox).
- Consider making the Youtube demo the main link of the post. (Review the show HN guidelines, sign-up wall isn't the first thing people expect when viewing submissions).
Mine is a work in progress, but chat should work just fine. Let me know if you have any questions/concerns.
click create space -> choose proceed as anonymous -> In your space, use chat or other apps. It's end to end encrypted (using the hash-frag in url as key, AES-128 bit GCM)
Does it also tell the coordinates (x,y) of the annotated box w.r.t. the screenshot dimensions?
Haven't used vision models before, can someone comment if they are good at "pointing things". E.g given a picture, give co-ordinate for text "foo".
This is the key to accurate control, it needs to be very precise.
Maybe Claude's model is trained at this. Also what about open source vision models? Any ones good at "pointing things" on a typical computer screen?
The page has some CSS issues. The hero copy and some elements are cut off, there seems to be horizontal overflow as well.

The timer is too shrill for me. Nice choice of music though, I got some work done!
If anyone is interested, the music uses Youtube. Here are the video-ids:

Has anyone built or know of a convenient secrets management/workflow for services deployed by systemd?
My wants:
- Secrets not visible by inspecting process env vars (/proc/PID/environ).
- No secrets on disk (encrypted is fine).
Firefox is, on-average, 25% quicker with page loads than it was last year – and it was pretty fast then, too
Is the copy I saw on update. Suggests incremental wins over the year rather than all in this release.
