You have clearly never worked in any sizeable workforce, and I can assure you your basic presumption that large private sector workforces does not have broken processes is childishly naive. The "problem" is you, making assumptions of waste where there is none to speak off, unless you can provide some actual data to back that up. The average federal employee earns about $60k/y, they are not there for the money. Firing all federal employees will same about 7h of borrowing.

I'm sorry but the narrative you have invested in so deeply is not founded in reality, not that I expect anyone explaining facts to you will make any appreciable difference.

Enjoy the pain you elected to bring upon yourself, you deserve the government you got.

'app sandboxing' is one part, of a small part, of a subsection of a general thread model, why would you pick that when you talk about 'secure'? And LOL no, Linux has SELinux, apparmor, firejail, flatpak, snap, docker, lxc, and various hypervisors for 'app sandboxing', Linux does not have 'basically none', it has arguably to many.

The point is, as you pointed out, that you code against the appropriate level of abstraction. You write a ML workflow appropriate language like Python in something like C++/rust, and ML flows in Python. That should really not be that hard to understand.

I absolutely have to 'like' it because I have to do it. Scrum masters and Product Owners love to inflict Agile bullshit, but they do not suffer from it. They have little understanding of the process of software development and imagine themselves to be capable of 'adding value'. Agile is a failed experiment kept alive by people who have no skill other than working the work.

Pretty disheartening to see the downvotes in a forum like hn which are supposed to be informed about these things. If people that are supposed to be able to critically assess data and have access to as much information they need to verify any claims come to the conclusion that you are full of shit, what hope is there to educate grandpa screaming at the wokes on the street.

Dams destroy ecosystems, reduce biodiversity and often just silt up. A related but far better idea is to encourage water retention on a far bigger scale by building johads or berms everywhere. See the Paani foundation's work in next door India.

I did not say it was a small problem, I said the current problem of stopping CO2 pollution and removing what we already have pumped into the environment over the last 200 years are orders of magnitude larger.

Australia exports millions of tons of thermal coal annually, we have vast gas fields of WA. These are profitable because a international market exist. The market exist because of a lack of affordable alternatives. So no, with enough baseload tech Australia will be probably be OK without nuclear. Solar to H2/Ammonia for example.

The Greens' idiotic anti-nuclear stance has empowered and embolden decades of coal and oil exploration and proliferation. As a Green voter I desperately hope this pattern gets adopted and replicated here in Australia the sooner the better.

That might be so, but I have been bitten with every single "Free" closed source tool I've ever used when it went away in some way or the other. Unless the free tool is totally unusable or the non-free one 5x more "good", I'd rather use the time to get good at a os tool that will just get better year after year.

The infrastructure in place at the old - soon to be decommissioned - power stations are to be re-developed for storage of the every increasing supply of renewables. Australia has one of the highest uptake of residential PV and its massive potential in solar and wind generation for the generation of hydrogen and ammonia has triggered a significant investment in renewables. FFI https://ffi.com.au/ a subsidiary of Fortescue, Australia's third largest iron miner, is investing billions in renewables in Australia today.

You have invented a fictitious enemy in your own made up "culture war" to rage and rail against what you believe is the one true answer. Thousands of hectares of pristine remnant bush are bulldozed to move, note not install, move, wind turbines into place. Nobody blinks an eye when thousands of hectares of remnant bush gets covered in solar panels. I'm the greenest person I know, a self identifying eco-facist. And I want a nuclear power station in every suburb. And so should you, if you gave a rats arse about the actual environment, and not some fake "war" raging in your meme-space while actual living things get ground into dust in the actual real world.

Due to low trust in government after decades of corruption and mismanagement of basically everything who can blame them ? And who stepped into into this void of authority... Facebook, bastion of truth and science and critical thinking.

America's inability to curb its own propaganda machines and its capitalism uber alles rhetoric and group-think boomerangs right back. This pandemic has certainly shaken a lot of nuts out of the rug, but where did those nuts came from ?

The consequences of their decisions and actions are significant raise in income, experience and exposure. Are you actually expecting people to stick around for "form's" sake ? Will the business invest in these people and keep them around during the hard times to see the benefit of good corporate governance ?

Devs are not stupid.
