I bought a tiny 12v Bosch driver when I fitted my kitchen 5 years ago, and I've used since for things like assembling flat pack furniture.

I've not charged it once since my kitchen project.

Obviously tightening knockdown fittings isn't very taxing work, but I'm still impressed every time I get it out.

I've never seen that use case discussed for the F35, but that was indeed the primary purpose of the Harrier - before it was eventually deployed onto small carriers.

Also I don't think selling GCP to AWS really helps competition.

I'm not super up to date with frontend development trends, but when I used it recently it really went against everything I've ever been taught about separation of concerns.

Like, I thought we were supposed to keep our content and styles separate, not mismatch them all together with a thousand utility class imports.

IBM has a very different model for supporting developers than Microsoft does with MSDN.

Interesting comparison, because when I was teaching myself to code in the early 00s, that's how I perceived Microsoft.

MSDN was a paid subscription, and the tools you needed to write MS software were also paid.

Hence me ending up forming a career on open source software, and a generation of programmers who still turn their nose up at Microsoft languages.

One tiny example I was frustrated by recently... soy sauce. You used to be able to get light / dark / reduced salt / premium versions of soy sauce in most supermarkets.

Recently I had a couple of weeks where I couldn't find any at all, and now it's down to just a single brand of supermarket own dark soy sauce.

ha yes, a parent can have a fully demanding, exhausting out of work schedule, but a young grad with plenty of free time is banned from volunteering at their local soup kitchen every evening.

I keep getting free trials and financially it makes sense to me with Apple One etc, but every time I've tried it I've ended up back on Spotify.

I've concluded the price saving isn't enough to use a product who's UX I enjoy less, even if it works well for other users.
